Veterinary Technician

Stone Veterinary Hospital – Watertown, CT

Stone Veterinary Hospital is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced, compassionate, and proactive Veterinary Technician to join our team!

We are a privately owned, 7-doctor small animal hospital with a dedicated team that takes pride in providing high-quality medicine while creating a welcoming experience for our patients, clients, and staff.

We are looking for someone who is confident, dependable, compassionate, and genuinely enjoys being part of a team. The right person is someone who sees what needs to be done, takes initiative, and cares about doing things the right way—even when the hospital gets busy.

What You'll Do

- Work alongside our veterinarians to provide high-quality patient care

- Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and accurate medical information

- Assist with appointments, procedures, and surgeries

- Draw blood, place and monitor IV catheters, administer medications, and perform treatments

- Obtain and process laboratory samples

- Take diagnostic radiographs

- Monitor anesthesia and surgical patients

- Assist with dental procedures and dental cleanings

- Safely handle and restrain patients

- Educate clients on medications, treatments, preventative care, and follow-up instructions

- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records

- Prepare, clean, and maintain surgical and medical equipment

- Keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and the hospital clean and organized

- Communicate effectively with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and client service staff

- Help keep the day running smoothly by anticipating the needs of the doctors, patients, and team

What We're Looking For

- Previous veterinary technician experience preferred

- Veterinary Technician certification/degree preferred, but we are willing to consider the right candidate based on experience

- Strong knowledge of animal handling, patient care, and veterinary medicine

- Comfortable with blood draws, catheter placement, radiographs, anesthesia monitoring, and laboratory procedures

- Ability to safely and confidently handle a variety of patients

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a busy environment

- Dependable, responsible, and willing to take initiative

- Someone who is willing to jump in and help wherever needed

- A positive attitude and a genuine passion for caring for animals

- Commitment to providing compassionate care to both patients and their owners
