Position Title:

RN Nurse - for Pediatric in-home and community care

Estimated Hours/Schedule:

Mon, Tues, Thurs: 3-7:30pm (4.5x3)

Wed: 1:30-7:30pm (6)

Fri: 3-11/11:30pm (8.5)

Around 28-40 hrs + opportunities for additional hours on some weekday evenings and the weekend on occasion

When patient is sick and unable to attend school shift opportunities from 7am-8pm to gain additional hours.

Rate:

$70-80+ an hour, up for discussion based on previous job experience and applicable skillset.

W2 payroll position requiring a live scan and background check to be completed and claered before working with client. Please provide 2 references.

Employers car will be provided for all transports of patient in the community. Must have a valid drivers license, with a good driving record and willingness to transport patient.

Location Description:

Single family home. Multiple stories- wheelchair accessible with elevator

Not on a bus line, must have own transportation to and from work. Must be able to get themself to and from work (not on a bus line or walkable distance from BART). When transporting patient, nurse will use family car/van that is equipped for the patient.

Travel with patient to various places within the community: on occasion school, therapy, library, camp, ect.

1 large mixed breed 12 year old dog in home. Friendly.

Required Qualifications/Skills (specific special needs experience, valid driver's license, male or female caretaker, athletic caretaker, etc.):

Required Skills:

RN certification

English proficiency (communicate effectively with parents)

Valid Drivers license with good driving record

Able to lift person weighing 40 pounds (who will continue to slowly grow)

Able to lift wheelchair into car (family pursuing wheelchair van for next year)

Suctioning

diaper changes (child, not baby)

g-tube feeds (via pump and syringe) and medications given via g-tube

oxygen administration

breathing treatments via nebulizer

pulse oximeter usage and comprehension

Medical supplies up keep and organization

Reliable, honest, and trustworthy

Positive and calm demeanor in dealing with children

Ability to be flexible with schedule based on childs ability to attend school (or stay home if sick)

Willingness to interact with Child for entertainment and education: reading books with him, lego building, going to the library, possibly accompany to camp 1x a year, ect

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Plus: Complex care experience, experience with cerebral palsy, Pediatric experience, seizure/epilepsy care experience, physical therapy knowledge or interest

Willingness to Travel with Patient on family vacations (sometimes outside of US)

Seeking an exceptional candidate who desires to provide emphatic and loving care to a vibrant 9 year old boy who is severely disabled and medically complex.

The Care Needed:

Meet child at home after school each day.

Duties include:

-Shower in bath chair.

-Assist with prep for the next day of school or weekend activities: making food, medications, packing supplies, charging devices.

-Set up and administer g-tube feed for dinner

-Engage in entertainment with child: book reading, tv watching, legos, ect while monitoring feed, suctioning needs, oxygen needs and seizure responses.

Put patient to bed: change clothes, hygiene needs, positioning in hospital bed. Monitor Patient in bed in his own bedroom ensuring that his needs are met including- administering medications provided via g-tube, operating the feeding pump, checking diaper and changing diaper if needed, positioning safely in bed and back-brace for sleeping. Administering oxygen and breathing treatments via nebulizer, reading pulse oximeter and reacting appropriately to low oxygenation levels.

Help with care and hygiene items when patient is resting and not in need of immediate care:

Clean out suction & documentation of amount

Wash soiled bedding as needed

Put away supplies, organize meds

Make puree meals (mom will train)

Make meds

When patient is sick and unable to go to school, schedule shifts to cover daytime care if possible.

Ideal Start Date:

October 12- overlap one week with the current nurse/caregiver for hands-on training.

Patient is immune-compromised. Family requests that you do not come to work when sick or experiencing illness symptoms. Masking is required during the full shift in addition to frequent handwashing or glove usage (masks and gloves provided by family).

*Opportunities for PTO if working enough hours.

Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour

Expected hours: 28.0 – 40.0 per week
