About the Position
A prestigious Maternal Fetal Medicine practice located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan is seeking an experienced full-time OBGYN Registered Nurse to join our team.
Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse provides professional nursing services through patient education, assessment, and care in an office-based setting. The RN follows the established nursing process, including patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, while working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
The Registered Nurse serves as an important liaison between patients, providers, and staff, ensuring patients receive timely, compassionate, and comprehensive care.
Essential Functions
- Triage and respond to patient phone calls and clinical concerns.
- Call prescriptions into pharmacies as needed and coordinate medication-related requests.
- Obtain preauthorizations for medical supplies and pharmaceuticals, including 17P, breast pumps, and other items.
- Follow up on outgoing laboratory tests and ensure results are received by the practice in a timely manner.
- Review incoming laboratory results and report abnormal findings to physicians for appropriate follow-up.
- Assess patients' physical and psychosocial needs and provide appropriate nursing interventions.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare practitioners with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Educate and counsel patients regarding procedures, medical care, follow-up recommendations, and sensitive health concerns.
- Provide patients with appropriate educational materials and resources.
- Coordinate referrals to mental health services, social services, and outside specialists, including VNS, cardiology, neurology, and other specialties as needed.
- Perform injections, blood draws, and other nursing procedures as needed.
- Provide clinical support to patients across all practice locations.
- Assist with the coordination and continuity of patient care between providers, staff, and outside healthcare services.
- Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software is a plus.
Requirements
- Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an OBGYN setting.
- Maternal Fetal Medicine experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of OBGYN nursing principles and practices.
- Knowledge of medications, treatments, and common nursing procedures.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and patient-care skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative medical office environment.
- Compassionate and professional approach to patient care.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
