Job Responsibilities & Requirements

MiTek's Internship Program offers a paid, 12-week full-time experience that runs Monday, May 17th through Friday, August 6th designed for students nearing completion of their degree.

Interns are paired with a Manager and Mentor to work on impactful projects and present final outcomes at the end of the program. The program includes networking opportunities, leadership exposure, and engagement in a hybrid work environment that fosters innovation and inclusivity. For internships that outside your current geographic location, we offer a $6,000 Intern Stipend to help cover your temporary housing and travel for the duration of the program.

This internship will contribute directly to MiTek's Digital Thread strategy by establishing a scalable data foundation that connects operational, electrical, software, controls, and mechanical asset data into a unified digital representation of automation equipment.

Interns will gain hands-on experience working with Industrial IoT, Digital Twins, Edge Computing, Machine Learning, and Industry 4.0 technologies while helping shape the future of connected automation systems.

This internship provides a unique opportunity to help build the foundation of MiTek's next-generation Digital Twin and Digital Thread ecosystem. Interns will work with real machine telemetry, connected equipment, cloud technologies, and advanced analytics while contributing directly to strategic initiatives that support predictive maintenance, operational excellence, and future AI capabilities across MiTek automation products.

Responsibilities:

Data Discovery & Mapping

-

Inventory available telemetry signals from connected edge devices

-

Document PLC tags, controls data, software telemetry, and machine-generated events

-

Analyze available operational and performance datasets

-

Create a telemetry data dictionary

-

Map telemetry sources to Digital Twin asset structures

-

Identify gaps and opportunities within the current telemetry framework

Digital Twin Enhancement

-

Identify additional live-state parameters that should be represented within the Digital Twin

-

Support creation of machine and subsystem asset hierarchies

-

Validate telemetry quality, consistency, and completeness

-

Assist with development of descriptive Digital Twin models

-

Help define relationships between operational data and digital assets

Analytics & Machine Learning Exploration

-

Analyze telemetry data to identify trends and operational insights

-

Develop foundational KPIs for machine health and performance monitoring

-

Evaluate potential machine learning use cases

-

Investigate predictive maintenance opportunities

-

Recommend telemetry signals most valuable for future AI initiatives

Reporting & Visualization

-

Create dashboards and reporting concepts for internal stakeholders

-

Develop customer-facing insight recommendations

-

Present findings using data visualization tools and reports

-

Assist with executive-level communication of project outcomes

Qualifications:

-

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering with Data Science/Analytics focus with an expected graduation of Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.

-

Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher; ability to accept full-time offer

-

Experience or coursework in C#, .NET, SQL, Python and Object-Oriented Design.

-

Experience or familiarity with Digital Twin.

-

Experience or familiarity with AI/Machine Learning concepts.

-

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical challenges.

-

Passion for software development and eagerness to learn and contribute.

-

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

-

Nice to have experience with Power BI or Tableau.
