Position Objective: The Computer Systems Analyst will provide support services to the National Eye Institute within the National Institutes of Health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide scientific computing support within the Laboratory of Sensorimotor Research (LSR), including troubleshooting, answering technical inquiries from researchers, and procuring new systems.

Independently develop custom computer applications for collecting and analyzing data, including applications that interface with commercial and custom-built hardware.

Develop applications that depend on a combination of custom and commercial applications working cooperatively; write programs in C/C++, MATLAB, Excel, or PERL, running under UNIX, Linux, Windows, or macOS.

Develop methods for analyzing complex datasets from various sources and document methodological approaches to data analysis, including detailed procedures and rationale.

Maintain a Local Area Network (LAN) consisting of a mixture of workstations and providing high-speed access to large datasets.

Provide statistical support to members of a laboratory engaged in biomedical research, including data analysis and generation of MATLAB tools for researchers to use independently.

Independently monitor internal network systems and address system performance issues.

Introduce and integrate new technologies into existing computing systems.

Manage the LSR Message of the Day List.

Prepare data and analysis for presentations and publication.

Work products and documents related to providing scientific computing support within the LSR; troubleshooting; answering technical inquiries from researchers; procuring new systems; and developing custom computer applications for collecting and analyzing data.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Neuroscience or a related discipline.
- Four years of specialized experience plus a high school diploma is equivalent to a Bachelor degree.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with non-technical and technical staff

Detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects
