What you'll do:
- Analyse user and business requirements, define suitable technical solutions, and prepare clear system and project documentation.
- Set up development environments and design maintainable, scalable, and secure software and solution architectures.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain AI-enabled applications, software systems, and data solutions for client and internal projects.
- Build front-end and back-end components for enterprise applications, AI products, internal platforms, and platform extensions for local deployment.
- Develop and integrate AI agents, Generative AI applications, LLM-based solutions, RAG systems, AI models, APIs, databases, and enterprise workflows.
- Contribute to AI platform and infrastructure development, including system integration, internal code testing, external functional testing, deployment, and operational support.
- Manage projects or major work packages covering data gathering, preparation, exploratory analysis, modelling, implementation, validation, and communication of recommendations.
- Develop, verify, validate, and deploy analytics, statistical models, machine learning techniques, and deep learning solutions to address customer needs.
- Design and interpret experiments, trials, and evaluations to refine technical proposals, improve performance, and translate insights into practical optimisation actions.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to address data quality, normalisation, standardisation, architecture, and technology adoption issues.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and research emerging technologies to improve software quality, testing, debugging, documentation, development efficiency, and project innovation.
You'll be a good fit if you have/are:
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Information Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline. A master's degree or PhD is an advantage.
- Typically 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in software, system, or application development. Strong hands-on IT development and delivery experience is preferred over purely academic AI research experience.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and practical experience in requirements analysis, application architecture, APIs, databases, testing, debugging, documentation, version control, and the software development lifecycle.
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python, Java, or C#, for system or application development. Strong Python capability is preferred.
- Practical experience with at least one database technology, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience building modern web applications using front-end frameworks such as React, Vue.js, or similar technologies, together with back-end services and APIs.
- Knowledge of Git, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud technologies, CI/CD, or related deployment and DevOps practices is an advantage.
- Experience in AI-assisted software development workflows using modern AI coding assistants for prompt engineering, code generation, debugging, testing, and documentation.
- Familiarity with Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, AI agents, machine learning, deep learning, NLP, or computer vision, with knowledge of TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras being an advantage.
- Experience delivering applied AI or data solutions for real-world business or industrial use cases is an advantage.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, debugging, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, creative, eager to learn, and passionate about using AI, data, and software engineering to solve real-world challenges.
- Candidates who can demonstrate knowledge of AI, or experience and ability to apply Generative AI tools in their work, will be preferred

HKPC will take into consideration both the quantitative and qualitative requirements of the position when selecting the suitable candidates. A competitive salary package commensurate with academic qualifications and experience will be offered. The successful candidates will be employed on a fixed-term contract basis, which is renewable subject to appointee’s performance and the Council’s development needs.
