About the Team

The Controls Team plays a critical role in maintaining and improving manufacturing equipment reliability, automation systems, and production performance. Team members work with advanced PLCs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial control technologies while driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role provides opportunities to develop expertise in industrial automation, robotics, controls engineering, and advanced manufacturing technologies while collaborating with cross-functional engineering and operations teams.

What You Can Look Forward to as a Controls Technician

- Support and promote a safe work environment by following all company safety procedures and contributing to continuous safety improvements.

- Identify equipment and control-system deficiencies that contribute to downtime, reliability issues, or performance losses, and develop corrective solutions.

- Develop and implement long-term solutions that eliminate control-system deficiencies and improve equipment performance and reliability.

- Develop, modify, and optimize PLC- and PC-based control programs to improve equipment performance, safety, and reliability.

- Provide technical guidance and expertise in modifying hardware, software, electrical systems, and power-transmission control systems to improve safety, reliability, throughput, total cost of ownership, and the operational readiness of manufacturing equipment.

- Collaborate with customers and internal manufacturing engineering teams to improve manufacturing equipment controls.

- Respond to shop-floor users’ questions regarding access to and use of PLC applications, application issues, and training needs.

- Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to maintenance and non-maintenance personnel.

Your Profile as a Controls Technician

- High school diploma or GED required. An associate degree or technical certification in electrical technology, automation, mechatronics, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.

- Two or more years of related experience.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

- Experience machining components.

- Ability to use standard shop measurement tools.

- Familiarity with engineering assembly drawings and component drawings.

- Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

- Experience designing and installing control systems using PLC ladder logic, variable-frequency drives, and servo control systems.

- Working knowledge of vision systems.

- Experience supporting plant-floor systems and applications.

- Strong initiative, problem-solving skills, and work ethic.

Preferred Skills and Experience

- Working knowledge of DC torque-fastening systems.

- Experience with robotics technology and programming Universal Robots.

- Experience developing technical processes and solutions in a Total Productive Maintenance, or TPM, environment.

- Experience with Sinumerik 840D and NC programming.

- Experience with Cognex or Keyence vision systems.
