Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our team. In this role, you will ensure our insulators meet ISO 9001 standards and internal specifications. You will oversee quality control from raw material delivery through clay processing of extrusion, pugging, drying, glazing, firing, and final assembly. Operating within an ISO 9001 certified facility, you will maintain rigorous documentation, audit manufacturing processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and test incoming raw materials.
- Inspect and audit product and process at critical manufacturing stages.
- Perform mechanical, electrical, and dimensional testing on finished porcelain insulators as required.
- Assist in managing the calibration and maintenance schedule for all lab and production-floor testing equipment.
- Maintain meticulous quality records and test logs in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Initiate and document Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) when materials or products fail specifications.
- Participate in internal quality audits and assist in preparing documentation for external registration audits.
- Assist quality, engineering and production teams in investigating root causes of manufacturing defects.
- Track defect trends on Microsoft Excel and internal tracking systems and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years of quality control/assurance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Must have the ability to build relationships to successfully foster collaboration to meet and exceed Lapp Insulator goals.
- This candidate shall be willing to take directions and be flexible to daily tasks and assignments.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and the ability to interpret technical blueprints.
- Must have the Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods on a manufacturing floor.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Able to send and receive e-mails, save files, and navigate in a Microsoft Windows environment and successfully navigate multiple open applications, on multiple monitors.
Preferred Skills:
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems and audit processes.
- Possess the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of plant personnel and external auditors.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Education: Associate degree in engineering, materials science, or a technical field is preferred.
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
