Overview
We are looking for a reliable, professional HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driver to join our transport team. Operating rigid flatbeds (12t to 18t), you will be delivering manufactured timber roof trusses, floor joists, and associated structural timber components directly to construction sites and commercial developments. Factory duties would be expected where driving is not required for certain days.
This is a permanent, day-shift role offering consistent core hours, regular overtime opportunities and flexibility with working hours where practical.
Duties
- Safely operate a Class 2 HGV flatbed truck, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Load and secure goods onto the flatbed trailer, ensuring proper handling and safety during transit
- Plan efficient delivery routes to meet schedule requirements while maintaining safety standards
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in optimal condition
- Deliver goods directly to customer sites or designated locations, providing excellent customer service during each interaction
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and route sheets
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle and equipment at all times
Pay & Benefits:
- Standard Rate: £14.70 per hour
- Overtime Rate: £22.05 per hour (1.5x standard rate)

Shift Details:
- Working Days: Monday to Friday
- Start Time: Standard start 07:30 (with occasional earlier starts depending on route distance)
- Nights Away: None – daily routes with return to depot each day
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate 12-18 tonne rigid flatbed vehicles, adhering to all road safety regulations and company policies
- Factory duties expected when not required to drive.
- Ensure all timber loads (trusses and joists) are correctly strapped, ratcheted, and secured prior to departure and ensuring proper handling and safety during transit
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle defect inspections and complete required walk-around paperwork.
- Deliver to building sites and trade locations across the regional area, providing excellent customer service during each interaction
- Supervise offloading at site: customers take care of offloading via site machinery (e.g., forklift, telehandler, or crane) or hand-ball; you will oversee load safety, unstrap securely, and provide light assistance where safe and appropriate.
- Full adherence to EU drivers' hours, working time directive, and tachograph rules.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and route sheets
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of the vehicle and equipment at all times
Requirements:
- Valid UK Driving Licence with Category C (Class 2) entitlement
- Valid Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) card
- Valid Digital Tachograph card
- Clean licence (0 penalty points)
- Prior experience with flatbed transport, timber products, or ratchet load securing is preferred, but newly qualified drivers with the right attitude will be considered.
Pay: From £14.70 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
