Description

DACB's Health, Care and Public Law Team provides legal advice and training to a very wide range of organisations operating in the health and social care sector, including NHS Trusts, independent sector providers, charities, commissioners and investors.

The team is highly rated in Legal 500 and Chambers, recognised for its breadth of first-class specialist expertise and collaborative approach to working with clients and colleagues.

We currently have an opportunity for a solicitor to join our team to undertake a broad range of health regulatory and advisory work. The role will include supporting clients on matters such as inquests and inquiries, regulatory compliance and investigations, mental health and mental capacity-related work, and wider advisory matters affecting health and social care organisations.

The Health, Care and Public Law Team plays an important role in DACB's broader Health and Social Care practice, which is widely recognised as the leading strategic, commercial and regulatory legal adviser to the health and social care sector in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

-
Handle a varied and interesting workload with an appropriate level of supervision.

- Advise and support clients on a range of matters, including inquests, regulatory and advisory work, including court advocacy.

- Act as a point of contact for clients, demonstrating a level of knowledge and skill commensurate with experience.

- Communicate effectively with a broad range of people including clients, courts, regulators, healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.

- Support marketing and business development activity within the team e.g. attending marketing events and client training.

- Build an awareness of the Firm's other services and development of effective internal and external networks.

- Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols.

- Exercise full compliance with DAC Beachcroft protocols on billing and credit control and demonstrate a high level of financial management in respect of own files.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

A qualified solicitor or barrister with previous experience in this practice area or a related practice area. Experience of advising clients in the health and social care sector would be advantageous but not essential, particularly in relation to any of the following areas: inquests, regulatory investigations, healthcare compliance advice, mental health, mental capacity or Court of Protection matters.

We do not expect candidates to cover the full breadth of work undertaken by the team, but we do require a clear interest in health regulatory and advisory work, and enthusiasm to develop skills and knowledge relevant to the work we do.

- Excellent relationship and client handling skills. Able to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues.

- Highly motivated, sharing our commitment to providing excellent service to our clients across a range of complex legal issues.

- An ability to adopt a commercial perspective rather than an ‘academic’ approach to legal issues.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice.

- Team oriented with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.

This is an opportunity for someone looking to join a successful and expanding team in a market-leading firm with an excellent reputation nationally and as a great place to work.
