About us:
The Perioperative Unit at Gladstone Hospital is located in Block Seven, West Wing, and supports a broad range of surgical services across two operating rooms and a procedure room. The unit delivers elective and emergency surgery, Day Surgery, Pre-Anaesthetic Clinic and Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) services. With a focus on maintaining high standards of evidence-based patient care, the team supports patients throughout their perioperative journey. The Day Surgery Unit operates from 6.45am to 7pm, providing safe patient care and discharge, with three beds and five chairs conveniently located near the Recovery Unit.
About the role:
Provide advanced clinical nursing care with a high level of autonomy, expertise and accountability to ensure safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
Coordinate theatre operations alongside the Nurse Unit Manager, including working as Theatre Floor Coordinator and supporting efficient patient flow.
Liaise with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate elective surgery lists and manage emergency cases.
Manage theatre scheduling and patient information, including booking emergency cases, responding to elective list changes and using ORMIS to enter and confirm patients.
Provide clinical leadership and support staff development through mentoring, portfolio responsibilities, education and research.
About you:
Hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with the NMBA through AHPRA, with relevant postgraduate qualifications well regarded.
Demonstrate advanced clinical knowledge and competence in perioperative nursing, including anaesthetic, scrub/scout and/or PACU practice, and the ability to manage complex patient care.
Apply expert assessment, care planning, coordination and critical thinking skills to deliver safe, comprehensive, person-centred care in a fast-paced perioperative environment.
Use evidence-based practice, research, audits and quality initiatives to improve clinical practice, manage risk, maintain safety standards and achieve specialist perioperative performance outcomes.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $44,188 p.a. is comprised of:
An hourly rate between $57.76 - $61.85 p.h.
