Job Description

As PMO Lead NZ, you will provide local leadership for our New Zealand project management team and lead selected strategic, complex, and high-risk projects within the global solutions portfolio. This position connects New Zealand with our global Project Management Office, ensuring consistent application of the TOMRA Food Project Model, visibility of the portfolio, effective resource planning, and successful delivery.

You will lead day-to-day operations, coaching, and development of the New Zealand team, along with formal people management responsibilities for direct reports. Working closely with colleagues in Research & Development (R&D), you will deliver critical initiatives for new product development (NPD).

Key responsibilities:

Provide leadership and coordination for the NZ project management team and translate global PMO priorities into local objectives

Coach and develop a Jnr Project Manager, ensuring high-quality PM practice

Allocate or recommend project assignments based on capability and capacity

-
Lead planning for workload balancing, succession, recruitment, and retention

-
Maintain an integrated view of the NZ project portfolio, including risks, milestones, and dependencies

-
Lead portfolio and resource reviews, escalating issues and recommending priorities

-
Drive delivery of strategic, cross-functional, and international projects

-
Take accountability for scope, schedule, quality, risk, and stakeholder alignment

-
Champion adherence to TOMRA Food Project Model and improve governance practices

-
Build collaboration across global PMO and promote knowledge sharing

Qualifications

Must have:

-
8+ years’ experience managing complex, cross-functional projects in an international setting

Strong understanding of program governance, portfolio management, and resource planning

Degree in a relevant discipline (BSc, MSc, MBA)

Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills

-
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and align cross-functional teams

-
Experienced in leading, coaching, or developing project teams

-
Fluent in English; any additional languages are welcome

-
Willing to travel up to 30 days/year and work across time zones

Learnable in role:

-
Recognized PM certification (e.g., PMP or PRINCE2)

-
Deeper experience with NPD or product lifecycle projects in high-tech or automation environments
