About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payment and Mail Clerk to support payment processing operations in a fast-paced administrative environment. In this role, you will be responsible for handling incoming mail, reviewing and processing checks, entering transaction data, and maintaining accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong data entry skills, and can effectively manage confidential information while ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing.

- This opportunity is open to individuals located in the Richmond, VA and surrounding areas.

- The project hours of operations will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST Monday – Friday, with potential for overtime.

- Contractors will be engaged and paid by a third-party payroll supplier, BCforward, which will serve as the employer of record for tax and compliance purposes.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

- Receive, open, sort, and review incoming mail containing payments and financial documents.

- Verify check details, sender information, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.

- Enter and process transaction and payment data accurately within the designated system.

- Perform research and follow-up on incomplete, missing, or unclear information to facilitate timely processing.

- Maintain organized records and documentation in accordance with established procedures.

- Handle sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality.

Deliverables or Project Scope

- Accurate and timely entry of transaction and payment information.

- Support efficient payment operations by meeting established quality and productivity standards.

- Identification and resolution of discrepancies through appropriate follow-up activities.

- Complete and well-maintained records supporting payment transactions.

- Consistent processing of incoming checks and payment-related correspondence.

Collaboration Tools or Platforms

- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)

- Internal transaction processing and payment tracking systems

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED equivalent

- Candidates are required to have finger printing completed by Client

Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support, clerical operations, transaction processing, payment processing, banking operations, or a related field.

- Experience performing data entry with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

- Ability to manage confidential financial and customer information responsibly.

- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.

- Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately while meeting deadlines.

- Ability to work onsite at 1001 Semmes Ave, Richmond, VA 23224 during scheduled business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in banking, financial services, payment processing, accounts receivable, lockbox operations, or related financial environments.

- Experience handling checks, financial documents, or high-volume transaction processing.

- Familiarity with recordkeeping, reconciliation, or payment verification processes.

- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

Additional Information / Requirements

- Onsite position located at 1001 Semmes Ave, Richmond, VA 23224.

- Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. EST

- Position requires extended periods of sitting, reviewing documents, and performing data entry.

- Must be able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

- Successful candidates will demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a strong commitment to quality.

Compensation Disclosure

Compensation for contractor roles supporting Accenture is determined by the contractor’s employer BCforward, and varies depending on factors such as location, role, skill set, and experience.

As required by law, below you’ll find the reasonable range of compensation BCforward expects to pay for this role as set forth below.

We anticipate this contractor role will be posted until 9/26/2026.
