The Opportunity: Night Crew Supervisor (Full-Time)
Job description:
- Supervise and direct a small team of overnight clerks across the Grocery and Dairy/Frozen departments, and coordinate associates assisting in other department areas when needed
- Assign and prioritize nightly tasks to ensure all departments are fully stocked and organized by store opening each morning
- Hold associates accountable for tasks assigned by providing clear direction and ongoing guidance throughout the shift
- Perform overnight restocking, replenishment, and rotation of products to optimize the flow of inventory on hand, performing regular rotations and date checks (FIFO) to manage product freshness and reduce shrink
- Maintain the organization, cleanliness, and safety of backroom storage areas, including walk-in freezers and coolers
- Execute inventory counts overnight to maintain accurate stock levels
- Assist in the execution of re-lines to maintain an organized and updated product layout
- Look to maintain proper and accurate product signage and pricing overnight
- Ensure a safe working environment for all overnight employees, including proper use of equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, box cutters, ladders), in accordance with provincial health & safety regulations and company policy
- Lead by example with professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs
The Qualifications:
- Must be available to work overnight shift hours (late evening to early morning, with full-time availability (generally Monday-Friday, weekends when needed)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a grocery retail environment
- High school education, GED or equivalent
- Strong understanding of grocery operations, particularly in the Grocery and Dairy/Frozen departments
- Experience working in an independent grocery retailer as well as previous Team Leadership or Supervisory experience
- Experience working overnight hours in a retail environment is an asset
- Effective organization, time management, and planning skills to supervise overnight department operations, with the ability to balance multiple responsibilities and priorities
- Ability to work independently and stay productive with minimal direct supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with overnight associates and coordinate with day-shift teams
- Ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail with a sense of urgency to meet nightly goals and objectives ahead of store opening
- Effective leadership skills to supervise and support a small, diverse team
- Ability to speak multiple languages is an asset
- Experience with operating equipment would be an asset (e.g. hand jack, pallet jack)
- This position requires long periods of walking and standing, extended periods working in coolers and freezers, and the ability to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
