The Credentialing Services Specialist is responsible for the full administrative coordination of a Department’s credentialing program, including oversight of related training, licensure, certification and compliance; and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Specializes and oversees credentialing of all incoming faculty and fellows at various facilities (internal and external) with interrelated activities of other programs, departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications.
- Specializes and oversees re-credentialing/reappointment of established faculty and fellows. Completes provider credentialing and re-credentialing applications; monitors applications and timely follows-up, as needed. Tracks and maintains required documentation on all faculty to ensure timely enrollment and renewals of professional privileges. Oversees records, manages applications regarding credentials and process requests.
- Implements and oversees the updated faculty/fellow credentialing/licensure/training database.
- Ensures new faculty are on-boarded and oriented for his/her first scheduled clinic session.
- Specializes and oversees processing of faculty/fellows licensure and certification, i.e. MD, CDS, DEA, BLS, etc.
- Participates in offsite visits/meetings with other facilities’ MSO representatives to ensure appropriate and smooth communication as well as to collaborate on best practices.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in related field of study is preferred
- Three to five years of administration of a program, preferably in higher education or healthcare setting
- Accurate typing and data entry skills
- Excellent organization and communication (oral and written) skills
- Demonstrated proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite and software used by the department

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of University of Maryland’s Faculty Physician’s Inc. salary range for this position. Some candidates will not be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Exact salary will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, market conditions, internal equity, responsibility factor and span of control, education/training and other qualifications.
