Overview of Role
The Associate Data & Automation Associate is a hands-on member of the Data and AI Enablement team, helping build and support the automation, data, and web services that enable analytics and AI capabilities across the firm.
Working closely with senior technical colleagues, this role focuses on three core areas: automating repeatable business and IT processes; operating data pipelines that prepare information for dashboards and AI/ML use cases; and deploying and supporting internal web applications and APIs in Microsoft Azure. This is an early-career role designed for someone who enjoys solving practical problems with code and is looking to broaden their experience across data, cloud, automation, and platform technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain PowerShell and Python scripts that automate repeatable IT and business processes.
Develop, schedule, monitor, and troubleshoot workflows using Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and Logic Apps.
Operate and extend data pipelines that ingest, cleanse, refine, and enrich data for Power BI reporting and AI/ML datasets.
Support data storage and curation across Azure Blob Storage, OneLake, and Microsoft Fabric lakehouses, following established quality, lineage, security, and governance standards.
Deploy and support internal web applications and services on Azure, including containerized applications and REST APIs.
Monitor jobs, pipelines, and deployed services; investigate issues, resolve common failures, and escalate more complex problems when appropriate.
Maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks, source control, and infrastructure-as-code practices so work is repeatable and transferable.
Collaborate with senior Data Platform colleagues, AI Enablement team members, and Data & Analytics stakeholders to translate requirements into working solutions.
Qualifications
1-3 years of relevant experience in automation, data engineering, DevOps, cloud operations, or related technical field. Strong internship, apprenticeship, or substantial project experience may also be considered.
Practical experience with PowerShell and Python for automation and data processing.
Working knowledge of SQL and experience querying, transforming, and validating datasets.
Exposure to Microsoft Azure services such as Azure Blob Storage, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Functions.
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, including pipelines, notebooks, lakehouses, or OneLake.
Experience with Git-based version control and collaborative development practices such as branching, pull requests, and code review.
Exposure to Docker, cloud-hosted application deployment, and REST APIs.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the initiative to investigate issues before escalating them.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and the ability to document technical work clearly.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to Power BI, including dataset refresh, report publishing, or semantic models.
Experience preparing, labeling, validating, or curating datasets for AI/ML training or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts and cloud monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, or Application Insights.
Microsoft certification such as AZ-900, DP-900, AZ-104, or DP-700, or progress toward certification.
Basic familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or a modern front-end framework.
What You'll Bring
A practical, hands-on approach to automation and technical problem solving.
Curiosity and a willingness to learn from more senior colleagues while steadily taking on greater ownership.
Ability to work effectively with global and remote teams across time zones.
A disciplined approach to code quality, documentation, reliability, and data governance.
Additional Information
The expected base salary range is $65,000 - $72,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
