OPERATIONS MANAGER Amigo Construction | Cambridge, Wisconsin Amigo Construction is a family-owned and operated commercial exterior cladding and construction company specializing in architectural cladding, sheet metal fabrication, metal panels, ACM, and related exterior building systems. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our leadership team and help take Amigo Construction to its next level of growth. This is not an entry-level management position. The successful candidate must have previous, proven experience working as an Operations Manager or in a comparable senior operations leadership role, preferably within commercial construction, specialty contracting, manufacturing, fabrication, or a closely related industry. We are looking for someone who knows how to run operations, organize people, solve problems, establish accountability, and get things done. POSITION OVERVIEW The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating and improving the day-to-day operations of Amigo Construction, working closely with the Owners, estimating, project management, purchasing, shop personnel, field crews, and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will bring structure to our operations while maintaining the entrepreneurial, family-oriented culture that makes Amigo Construction successful. This person will be expected to lead—not simply manage paperwork. Key responsibilities include: - Oversee daily operations of the company, including shop, field, manpower, equipment, and project execution. - Coordinate resources between estimating, project management, purchasing, fabrication, and field operations. - Develop and maintain systems, procedures, and accountability throughout the organization. - Improve scheduling, manpower utilization, productivity, and project coordination. - Monitor project progress and identify potential problems before they become costly issues. - Help ensure projects are properly staffed, scheduled, supplied, and executed. - Coordinate with Project Managers and field supervisors to maintain project schedules and commitments. - Work with purchasing and suppliers to ensure materials are ordered, delivered, and available when needed. - Coordinate shop production and fabrication priorities with project schedules. - Help establish production and operational KPIs and hold teams accountable for results. - Monitor labor utilization, overtime, productivity, and operational costs. - Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements. - Assist with hiring, training, developing, and evaluating operational personnel. - Establish clear expectations and accountability for employees and subcontractors. - Help develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). - Assist leadership with forecasting manpower, equipment, production capacity, and operational needs. - Participate in project planning and preconstruction meetings when appropriate. - Maintain strong communication between the office, shop, field crews, customers, and leadership. - Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally. - Support company growth by helping Amigo build the infrastructure necessary to take on larger and more complex projects. - Assist in developing Amigo's future capabilities in off-site manufacturing. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR REQUIRED - Previous Operations Manager experience is required. - Proven track record managing business operations, preferably in construction, specialty contracting, manufacturing, fabrication, or a related industry. - Demonstrated experience managing people and multiple departments or operational functions. - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. - Ability to prioritize competing demands and make decisions quickly. - Strong understanding of scheduling, manpower, purchasing, production, and project execution. - Ability to hold people accountable while maintaining a positive working environment. - Strong communication and leadership skills. - Ability to work directly with ownership and senior leadership. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. - Valid driver's license. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing company where priorities can change quickly. PREFERRED - Commercial construction experience. - Specialty contractor or subcontractor experience. - Architectural cladding, sheet metal, metal fabrication, or exterior construction experience. - Experience coordinating shop and field operations. - Experience implementing operational systems and SOPs. - Experience with construction management software, ERP systems, or production-management systems. - Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. THE RIGHT PERSON The right candidate is someone who can walk into a growing company and say: "Let me understand how you operate today, identify what's working and what's not, and build a better system." You should be comfortable being hands-on, walking through the shop, talking with field crews, reviewing schedules, working with Project Managers, resolving purchasing issues, and sitting down with ownership to discuss operational performance. We are looking for a leader and problem solver—not someone who waits to be told what to do. The successful candidate should have a history of taking ownership, improving operations, developing people, and producing measurable results. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS During the first 90 days, the Operations Manager will be expected to: - Learn Amigo Construction's people, projects, systems, and workflow. - Establish clear operational priorities and accountability. - Improve communication between office, shop, and field operations. - Identify operational bottlenecks and inefficiencies. - Improve scheduling and manpower coordination. - Establish meaningful operational KPIs. - Develop and improve SOPs. - Help reduce avoidable delays, rework, and operational waste. - Establish a more predictable and scalable operating structure. - Present recommendations to ownership for continued growth and improvement. WHY AMIGO CONSTRUCTION? Amigo Construction is a growing, family-owned company with more than three decades of construction experience and a strong reputation in commercial exterior cladding. We are entering an important next chapter of growth, including expanding our fabrication capabilities and moving toward greater vertical integration and off-site manufacturing. This position provides an opportunity for the right person to have a meaningful impact on the future direction and growth of the company. You will work directly with company leadership and have the opportunity to build systems, develop people, improve operations, and help shape the next chapter of Amigo Construction. COMPENSATION Competitive salary based on experience and proven track record. Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, leadership ability, and demonstrated results. Performance-based incentive/bonus opportunity available for the right candidate. HOW TO APPLY Please submit: - Resume - Summary of your previous Operations Manager experience - Description of the operations you have managed - Number of employees/teams you have previously managed - Examples of operational improvements you have implemented - Professional references Amigo Construction is particularly interested in candidates who can provide verifiable professional references demonstrating successful operations leadership.
