Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks with manual or automatic transmissions across nationwide routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Manage loading and unloading of freight, including logistics cargo handling for various types of cargo such as hazardous materials, dangerous goods, refrigerated freight, flatbed loads, and tanker shipments.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to ensure timely deliveries while optimizing routes for fuel efficiency and safety.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor-trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues before hitting the road.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery documentation, and compliance with all hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods.
- Load and secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit; handle manual loading/unloading tasks with care and precision.
- Communicate professionally with dispatchers, clients, and team members to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues promptly.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers with manual transmission preferred.
- Proven experience in over-the-road (OTR) driving routes with a strong understanding of logistics cargo handling and freight delivery procedures.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and hazardous materials regulations is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate GPS navigation systems confidently for route planning across diverse terrains nationwide.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) rules, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure full compliance during all operations.
- Strong manual handling skills for truck loading/unloading tasks; experience with automobile transportation is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, route efficiency, and customer service excellence.
