About the Position

Global Health Strategies is seeking an intelligent and passionate young professional interested in global health issues and with knowledge of public health policies and public affairs in Brazil and Latin America, to be based at our Rio de Janeiro office working alongside peers and senior management. Associates help develop and execute advocacy, program and communication strategies for our clients.

The Associate should have project management skills and basic knowledge of public health issues, such as HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Maternal & Child Health, Nutrition/Food Security, Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence, Vaccines, Health Systems (SUS) and climate, among other issues at the intersection of health and development.

The Associate should also be knowledgeable and interested in the Brazilian and Latin American research and health technologies manufacturing agendas, as well as in international cooperation and development, with a focus on global health.

Although part of the Brazil team, and Portuguese speaker, the candidate must also be fluent in English, as a significant portion of the work will be performed in English. Being able to communicate in Spanish is an important asset, as well.

Key Responsibilities:

- Day-to-day support to operations of programmatic and advocacy activities

- Develop research on health policies, landscape mappings and other relevant topics for GHS' work

- Draft high-quality documents, including briefs, presentations, talking points, fact sheets and meeting notes

- Translate/ review documents in English, Portuguese and Spanish

- Support relationship management with partners, through face-to-face meetings, calls and updates by email, ensuring the smooth running of projects and activities

- Track project activities, budgets and account deliverables

- Keep projects’ tools and resources updated

- Develop activities and financial reports to clients

- Provide information and fact-based research to support client activities

- Support the development of proposals to current and new clients and/or partners

- Apply strategic thinking and carry out activities to organize events that advance clients’ goals

Essential Qualifications

- BA/BS, with training in development, international affairs, public health, or other relevant fields

- Professional work experience in development issues, preferably demonstrated experience in support to health, social development, or health research projects in Brazil

- Understanding of the global health landscape and desire to contribute to improving health in developing and resource-poor countries

- Fluent in Portuguese and English

- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations

- Basic knowledge of AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) and comfort incorporating them into daily research, writing, and productivity workflows

- Excellent research, writing and editing skills

- Strong attention to detail, organization and planning-ahead capacity

- Deadline oriented

- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced work environment where multi-tasking is required

- Ability to work as part of a highly matrixed and multicultural team

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Availability for national and international travels

- Willing to work flexible hours as necessary

Desired Qualifications

- Spanish proficient level strongly encouraged

- Experience working with management (asana, Slack) tools

- Experience working with non-profit organizations, philanthropic foundations, or corporate social responsibility programs

- Experience conducting political and economic context analysis

About the Job

- Contract type: CLT (formal employment contract under Brazilian labor law)

- Compensation: Market-competitive

- Hours: 40 hours/week, with 16 hours of mandatory in-office work at the Flamengo office

- Occasional travel required
