Description
Summary:
The AI Product Owner will support the delivery and adoption of AI-enabled digital products and platform capabilities that help customers and colleagues complete high-value tasks, access relevant guidance, and engage with Huntington in more useful, personalized, and repeatable ways. Reporting into the Head, AI Products & Platforms organization, this role will translate business needs, customer and colleague pain points, and product opportunities into actionable requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test plans, and prioritized backlog items for delivery teams.
The AI Product Owner will partner closely with product leaders, technology, data, analytics, design, legal, risk, compliance, operations, marketing, and business stakeholders to move AI product concepts from discovery through delivery and continuous improvement. This role requires strong product discipline, analytical thinking, stakeholder management, and comfort working with emerging technology in a highly matrixed, regulated environment.
The ideal candidate is a practical builder who can operate between strategy and execution, bring structure to ambiguous opportunities, and ensure AI-enabled capabilities are delivered with clear business outcomes, appropriate controls, and a strong customer and colleague experience. This role will not be responsible for setting the enterprise AI product strategy independently but will play a critical role in executing roadmap priorities, coordinating delivery, validating product quality, and driving adoption of new capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of the AI products and platforms roadmap by translating strategic priorities into clearly defined product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog items.
- Partner with product leadership, business stakeholders, technology, data science, analytics, design, risk, legal, compliance, operations, and marketing teams to deliver AI-enabled capabilities from concept through launch.
- Identify and document customer, colleague, and business problems that may be addressed through AI-enabled products, workflow tools, automation, or reusable platform capabilities.
- Convert ambiguous business needs into measurable outcomes, product hypotheses, MVP scope, test plans, and delivery milestones.
- Own and manage product backlogs, prioritizing work based on customer value, colleague impact, business benefit, feasibility, risk, controls, and delivery capacity.
- Define acceptance criteria and validation approaches for AI-enabled features, including expected output quality, approved data sources, user experience, escalation paths, and human-in-the-loop requirements.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, pilot planning, release readiness, defect triage, and post-launch feedback loops to ensure products meet intended outcomes.
- Track product performance, adoption, quality, operational impact, and stakeholder feedback; recommend enhancements based on observed usage and business results.
- Support responsible AI practices by helping document product decisions, risks, controls, business rules, model or system limitations, and ongoing monitoring needs.
- Prepare clear product narratives, updates, demos, and decision materials that help stakeholders understand product value, delivery status, risks, and tradeoffs.
- Stay current on AI product practices, digital banking trends, customer experience expectations, agile delivery, product analytics, and emerging technology capabilities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5+ years of related experience in product management, digital product delivery, technology, AI-enabled products, data and analytics, agile delivery, financial services, consulting, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience serving as a product owner, product manager, business analyst, agile delivery lead, or similar role supporting digital products, workflow tools, platforms, or technology-enabled capabilities.
- Experience writing product requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, test scenarios, and release readiness materials.
- Familiarity with AI, machine learning, generative AI, automation, data products, analytics, or emerging technology solutions.
- Ability to translate business problems into practical product requirements and measurable outcomes while recognizing when AI may or may not be the appropriate solution.
- Understanding of agile delivery methods, backlog management, sprint planning, product discovery, experimentation, and iterative product improvement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use product metrics, adoption data, stakeholder feedback, and operational insights to inform prioritization and enhancements.
- Experience working in a regulated environment and partnering with risk, legal, compliance, privacy, model governance, information security, or control partners.
- Ability to support responsible AI practices, including documentation of assumptions, limitations, controls, output quality expectations, escalation paths, and monitoring needs.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain product concepts, AI-enabled capabilities, risks, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across technology, data, design, analytics, operations, marketing, compliance, risk, legal, and business teams.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, balancing multiple priorities, and bringing structure to new product opportunities.
