Duties
- Lead the commissioning process for electrical systems, including power distribution, control panels, automation equipment, and communication networks.
- Develop detailed testing procedures and system verification plans aligned with project specifications and industry standards such as NEC (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 70 compliance.
- Conduct comprehensive electrical testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools to identify root causes of system faults or inefficiencies.
- Perform system development verification for FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), SoC (System on Chip), PCB (Printed Circuit Board), and electronics design components to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize CAD software like AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks to review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout designs; update documentation as needed.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to signal processing, control systems, industrial automation, firmware debugging, and programming in languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, or SystemVerilog.
- Coordinate project scheduling activities to ensure timely completion of commissioning milestones while managing safety protocols in accordance with electrical building codes and safety standards like NFPA 70.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support production ramp-up by providing technical guidance on surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, mechanical assembly considerations, and vision inspection systems.
Experience
- Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on electrical system design, testing, or commissioning.
- Strong background in electronics design including PCB layout and schematic development using CAD tools; familiarity with circuit design principles is essential.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), automation systems, control systems engineering, and industrial communication protocols.
- Skilled in debugging complex electrical issues utilizing oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal analysis tools, and scripting languages such as Perl or Python for automation tasks.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to electrical enclosures or mechanical integration within electrical systems; experience with Revit or Mechanical CAD software is advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry standards including NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 compliance requirements for electrical installations and safety regulations.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis efficiently while maintaining meticulous documentation of test results and troubleshooting steps.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating across multidisciplinary teams; experience practicing in environments that require rigorous system development verification processes.
