Project Planning & Operational Support Coordinator

Location: Leeds (Hybrid – typically 2–3 days per month in the office)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a highly organised and commercially aware Project Planning & Operational Support Coordinator to join our growing team in Leeds.

This is a varied role that sits across project planning, project support and business operations. We are looking for someone who understands how construction projects are planned and programmed, but who isn't necessarily a traditional, full-time construction Planner.

You will need to be comfortable reading and understanding construction programmes, recognising key activities, dependencies, milestones and potential delays, and helping project teams keep things moving. At the same time, you'll play a broader role in supporting the day-to-day running of projects and the wider business.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in a construction environment who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working across different areas of a business, rather than wanting a role focused solely on producing programmes.

What You'll Be Doing

Your responsibilities will be varied and will include:

- Supporting the development, review and maintenance of construction programmes.

- Understanding project timelines, key milestones, dependencies and critical activities.

- Working with project teams to monitor progress against programme and identify potential issues.

- Helping to coordinate project actions, deliverables and deadlines.

- Producing project updates, trackers, reports and management information.

- Supporting project managers with planning, coordination and general project administration.

- Assisting with project mobilisation and ensuring key information and actions are in place.

- Providing operational support across different areas of the business as required.

- Helping to improve internal processes, systems and ways of working.

- Coordinating information between project teams, management and other stakeholders.

- Identifying potential problems and helping the team find practical solutions.

- Taking ownership of tasks and seeing them through to completion.

- Supporting ad-hoc business and operational projects.

The role will evolve as the business grows, so there will be plenty of opportunity for someone who is proactive and wants to take responsibility rather than simply work from a fixed job description.

About You

We are looking for someone who has a good understanding of construction projects and programming, combined with strong organisational and communication skills.

You might currently be working as a:

- Assistant Planner or Junior Planner

- Project Coordinator

- Project Administrator

- Assistant Project Manager

- Construction Coordinator

- Site/Project Support professional

- Commercial or operational support professional within construction

You don't need to be an expert Planner. We are more interested in your understanding of how construction projects work, your ability to interpret and work with programmes, and your willingness to get involved across the wider business.

You'll ideally have:

- Experience working within the construction or built environment sector.

- A good understanding of construction project planning and programming.

- The ability to read, understand and discuss construction programmes.

- Strong organisational and time-management skills.

- Excellent attention to detail.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.

- The ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with project teams.

- The confidence to communicate with people at different levels of the business.

Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project or similar programming software would be useful, but extensive programming experience is not essential.

The Person

We're looking for someone who is organised without being overly rigid, analytical without being purely desk-based, and comfortable getting stuck into whatever needs doing.

You should enjoy having a varied workload and be someone who naturally spots things that need attention rather than waiting to be told.

You don't have to know everything. What matters is that you understand the construction environment, can get to grips with project information quickly, and have the initiative to find answers and make things happen.

Why Join Us?

This is a genuinely hybrid role, with an expectation of being in our Leeds office approximately 2–3 days per month, with the remainder of your time working remotely.

You'll have the opportunity to work across a variety of projects and business functions, giving you exposure well beyond a traditional planning position.

For the right person, this role could develop into a broader project management, planning or operational management position as the business continues to grow.

Pay: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Leeds (West Yorkshire, Yorkshire and Humber Region)
