Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Metal Sheet Cutting & Bending Operator to operate machinery used for cutting, bending, and forming metal sheets according to drawings, measurements, and production requirements. The candidate should have good knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and be able to produce accurate, high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate sheet metal cutting and bending machines safely and efficiently.
- Cut metal sheets according to specified dimensions and production drawings.
- Set up and operate press brakes, shearing machines, bending machines, and related equipment.
- Read and understand technical drawings, measurements, and fabrication instructions.
- Select and install the appropriate tools, dies, and machine settings for different jobs.
- Measure and inspect finished pieces using measuring tools such as tape measures, vernier calipers, and gauges.
- Perform bending and forming operations to achieve required angles and dimensions.
- Identify and correct basic machine or production issues.
- Ensure finished products meet required quality and dimensional standards.
- Minimize material wastage by following cutting layouts and production instructions.
- Maintain machines, tools, and the work area in clean and safe condition.
- Follow company safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Coordinate with welders, fabricators, supervisors, and other production staff.
Requirements
- Previous experience in sheet metal cutting and bending or metal fabrication.
- Experience operating shearing machines, press brakes, CNC bending machines, or similar equipment is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand technical/fabrication drawings.
- Good knowledge of measurements, dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
- Ability to work with stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, and other sheet metals.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to use basic measuring and hand tools.
- Physically fit and able to handle metal sheets safely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CNC press brake and CNC shearing machines.
- Knowledge of machine setup and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to calculate bend allowances and understand bend deductions.
- Experience in metal fabrication, ducting, kitchen equipment, doors, panels, or similar products.
Working Conditions
The position is based in a metal fabrication/manufacturing workshop. The work may involve noise, dust, sharp metal edges, heavy materials, and prolonged standing. The employee must follow all safety procedures and use required PPE, including safety shoes, gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.
