Who We Are & Job Overview
About us
Capital is an established Principal Contractor working across commercial and retail construction in the UK. Our projects require design input from early design coordination through to construction drawings and as-builts.
We are hiring a CAD Technician who wants to grow into a Design Management role. This is a hands-on drawing role first — producing accurate information for live projects — with a clear path into design coordination and management for the right person.
The Role
You will produce, update and control technical drawings that the site and design teams use on a daily basis. Typical work includes existing-building surveys, strip-out and landlord works packages, GA drawings, details, 3D visualisations, revision control and as-built records. You will also own the drawing and document uploads in Procore so the latest issued information is available to the project team.
Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain detailed 2D CAD drawings and construction information in AutoCAD
- Build 3D visualisations in SketchUp (or similar) to help clients and project teams understand the design through visuals.
- Work with project managers, engineers, consultants and clients to capture requirements and turn them into clear drawings
- Revise drawings quickly and accurately from site feedback, RFIs and design changes
- Keep drawing registers, revision histories and an organised drawing library
- Manage drawings and document control in Procore, including uploading, naming, issuing and archiving files so the live set is always current.
- Check that issued information is coordinated, labelled and suitable for construction
- Support project documentation, including reports, presentations and handover packs
- Occasional site visits to measure, photograph and verify existing conditions (if required)
What we are looking for
Essential
- At least 3 years’ CAD experience in construction, architecture or a related built-environment role
- Strong AutoCAD skills
- Working knowledge of Revit and SketchUp (or a similar 3D package)
- Experience producing construction drawings, not just concept visuals
- Experience managing drawings and file uploads in Procore, or a similar common data environment (Aconex, Viewpoint, Asite, SharePoint)
- Excellent attention to detail and version control
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Able to work as part of a project team and manage your own drawing workload
Desirable
- Cut-and-carve, refurbishment, retail fit-out or new-build commercial project experience in the UK
- Familiarity with UK construction drawings, Building Regulations and CDM information
- Existing Procore experience, including Drawings, Documents and revision workflows
- Photoshop or similar for presentation images
- Interest in progressing towards Design Management
