Role Purpose

The Facilities Technician plays a key role in supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of building systems and facility infrastructure. This position is responsible for monitoring performance, assisting with troubleshooting, coordinating maintenance activities, and overseeing vendor and contractor work to ensure service is completed effectively and in accordance with company standards.

This role is primarily focused on technical support, issue resolution, work coordination, and operational oversight rather than direct hands-on repair, though minor maintenance support may occasionally be required.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor the performance and condition of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to support uninterrupted facility operations

Assist in identifying, assessing, and troubleshooting issues involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, lighting, and other building systems

Coordinate and provide direction to on-site trades, contractors, and service providers during maintenance, repair, and project activities

Support preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life

Assist in diagnosing equipment or system failures and recommending corrective action

Serve as a liaison with external vendors and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to expected quality standards

Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection logs, and work order documentation

Participate in facility inspections, audits, and risk assessments, and support follow-up corrective actions

Communicate clearly with building occupants, internal teams, and service partners regarding facility issues, work progress, and service interruptions

Support emergency response efforts and help coordinate urgent repair activities as needed

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in engineering, building system technology, facilities management or related field. -

3+ years experience in facilities operations, building maintenance coordination, property operations, or technical building support

Demonstrated ability to support troubleshooting and technical problem-solving across multiple facility systems

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Understanding of workplace safety requirements, compliance standards, and safe work practices

Desired Qualifications

Proficiency with CMMS/work order systems and standard business software

Experience with building automation systems (BAS), building management systems (BMS), or energy management platforms

Experience coordinating contractors, service providers, or skilled trades

Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, service scheduling, and maintenance documentation

Ability to interpret technical manuals, equipment information, drawings, and related documentation

OSHA, WHMIS, or other relevant health and safety training

Experience supporting facility projects, shutdown planning, or capital work coordination

Working Conditions

Work is performed in commercial, industrial, institutional, or multi-use facilities

Regular interaction with contractors, service providers, building occupants, and internal stakeholders

Occasional after-hours availability may be required to support emergencies, vendor access, or critical maintenance

Some walking, climbing, and facility inspections may be required based on site needs

The range for this position is $59,115.00 - $81,284.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
