Job Summary
THRYVE of Burbank is seeking an experienced Dietary Manager to lead the daily operations of our Dietary Department. Working closely with the facility Dietitian and interdisciplinary team, the Dietary Manager will ensure residents receive quality nutritional services while maintaining high standards for food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities

Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department.

Supervise, train, and provide direction to dietary department staff.

Develop and maintain job descriptions and performance evaluations for dietary personnel.

Review dietary policies, procedures, and job descriptions and recommend revisions as needed.

Process diet changes and new diet orders received from the Nursing Department.

Review regular and therapeutic diet plans and menus to ensure compliance with physician orders.

Maintain accurate records of resident food preferences, likes, and dislikes.

Monitor food preparation and meal service to ensure residents receive appropriate meals and portions.

Inspect food storage areas, refrigerators, freezers, utility areas, and other dietary spaces for cleanliness, organization, and proper supply control.

Maintain appropriate inventory levels of food, supplies, and equipment.

Ensure food storage, preparation, service, and work areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.

Review dietary department complaints and grievances and address concerns appropriately.

Assist with resident discharge planning as needed.

Participate in facility surveys and inspections and assist with addressing any identified deficiencies.

Maintain required dietary documentation and records.

Collaborate with the Dietitian, Nursing Department, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to meet residents’ nutritional needs.

Assist the Infection Control Committee with appropriate food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention practices.

Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations governing dietary services in skilled nursing facilities.

Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent required.

Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification required.

Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, nursing care facility, or related healthcare setting.

Strong knowledge of dietary practices and procedures.
-
Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary services in skilled nursing facilities.

Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively with residents, families, dietary staff, nursing staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
