What You'll Do

Join the CT Data Layer Team, a global initiative transforming our organization into a data-driven enterprise! The Data Layer Team builds the data platforms, pipelines, and GenAI capabilities that power BCG's consulting teams and practice areas including the new wave of agentic business capabilities. Our focus is on creating scalable data solutions and advancing our infrastructure to drive informed decision-making, accelerate value creation, and enable secure, enterprise-grade use of GenAI across the company.

As a hands-on Solution Architect Senior Manager you will be responsible for the architecture, design, and engineering enablement of our Data Layer infrastructure and automation, cloud platforms, and modular software solutions. This role provides the opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and influence data platform and software engineering practices across BCG, while providing leadership and collaboration to a high performing team tasked with high-visibility enterprise initiatives. You will work across product owners, stakeholders, other architects, vendors and technical teams to define backend system requirements and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable services.

The Successful Candidate Will Be a Highly Motivated Strategic Thinker, Engaging Collaborator, And Effective Influencer. They Will Coordinate And Provide Oversight To The Solution/technical Leads Of Multiple Development Squads, Balancing Delivery And Progress With Adherence To Standards And Processes. Your Activities Will Include

GenAI & Agentic Systems

- Architect and deliver technical solutions from prototype to production, including evaluating the viability and security of emerging GenAI/agent technologies.

- Design and scale data systems; define standards for agentic development, orchestration, deployment, and monitoring.

- Evolve reusable MCP patterns and services for consistent tool integration, governance, and lifecycle management.

- Define and apply scaling patterns covering access control, guardrails, evaluation, observability, cost/latency, and reliability.

- Use AI-assisted engineering tools (Claude Code, Cursor, equivalents) to accelerate delivery with strong quality and security controls.

Architecture & Platform Engineering

- Turn business requirements into scalable, secure designs with a focus on reusable backend services and data platform solutions. Contribute to AWS and Azure self-service capabilities, enabling rapid prototyping and time-to-market for structured and unstructured data classification and GenAI pipelines.

- Provide technical oversight to multiple squads; collaborate with other Architects to align with enterprise standards and DevSecOps practices; contribute to roadmaps and evolve standards.

- Ensure cross-system consistency; resolve cross-squad architectural dependencies and misalignments.

- Lead Architecture and Design Reviews; facilitate structured decision-making and document decisions through ADRs and RAID logs. Experience working in Jira/Confluence or similar and actively contributing to an architecture knowledge base.

- Conduct PoCs and scope effective MVPs to phase complex delivery, evaluate emerging cloud-native and AI technologies, and validate enhancements to the platform.

Data Integration & Pipeline Management

- Design the onboarding and integration of public, proprietary and third-party datasets into our cloud data platforms. Ensure that data pipelines (Airflow DAGs, AWS Glue) have correctness, completeness, and data integrity.

- Develop and manage automated solutions including K8s-deployed MCP endpoints, incorporating schema evolution and choosing appropriate cloud storage and compute (S3/Tables, Athena etc).

- Maintain metadata logs, asset templates, technical documentation, and enforce data governance, access controls, and compliance policies.

Stakeholder & Cross-Team Leadership

- Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences; drive alignment through influence.

- Act as technical liaison between internal stakeholders and external data vendors; manage integration projects end-to-end.

- Interface with strategic partners to identify value opportunities and coordinate joint initiatives.

- Support product squads translating and prioritizing business problems while contributing to the architectural runway.

Architecture & Problem Solving

- Translating complex business problems into clear, pragmatic, outcome-driven solution architectures with well-documented trade-offs.

- Applying systems thinking across multiple platforms and domains; identifying and resolving integration challenges before they become blockers.

- Building and evaluating GenAI and agentic solutions using MCP servers, Skills, and agent orchestration frameworks.

Engineering

- Backend programming (Python preferred) and modern API/microservice design — REST, GraphQL, event-driven architectures.

- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred, Azure a plus): compute, networking, IAM, storage, and managed services.

- CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, Docker containerization, and Kubernetes orchestration.

- Writing clean, well-documented, version-controlled code; designing and building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, or similar).

Communication & Leadership

- Explaining architecture decisions and technical concepts compellingly to diverse audiences — from engineers to senior leadership.

- Facilitating alignment across product, engineering, and business stakeholders utilizing influence.

- Leading with clarity and confidence in fast-moving, distributed environments; mentoring and unblocking teams.

Execution & Continuous Learning

- Operating effectively in Agile (Scrum/Kanban) environments; balancing speed and quality in architectural decisions.

- Proactively exploring and applying emerging technologies — AI, cloud-native, SaaS integrations — with a strong ownership mindset.

What You'll Bring

- 10+ years in Software or Platform Engineering, including Data and AI-focused roles; 10+ years designing business-critical applications in multi-region or regulated environments.

- 7+ years as a hands-on developer (multitenant/SaaS preferred); demonstrated Solution Architect experience, including building reference implementations. 1+ year of exposure to LLM-based business applications and/or agentic SDLCs.

- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and the ability to influence at senior levels.

- Strong analytical and critical thinking, structured problem solving

- Ability to manage multiple initiatives with competing priorities while delivering on commitments and estimates.

- Expertise in agent patterns and LLM knowledge: RAG, vector/graph DBs, tool use, planning, memory, guardrails, HITL

- Experience building and managing MCPs (registry, access control, versioning, performance/cost controls).

- Enterprise platform management including CI/CD, runtime monitoring, and incident response.

- Proficiency in Python and SQL; knowledge of containerization (Docker, K8s), serverless, and distributed systems.

- Strong experience with AI coding assistants (Claude, Cursor) for safe enterprise use

- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases; understanding of data modeling and integration patterns.

- Understanding of data strategy, governance, data catalog, lineage, and data quality concepts.

- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

Additional info

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

- The base salary range for this role in Atlanta is $144,000 -$176,000.

This is an estimated range, however, specific base salaries within the range depend on various factors such as experience and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.

In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a bonus of up to 20% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.
