The Role
We're seeking a Staff or Principal Software Engineer to help build the core platform powering a suite of AI-driven applications. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on designing scalable systems, building production-grade infrastructure, and partnering closely with research, product, and engineering teams to bring cutting-edge technology into real-world use.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of scalable backend services, APIs, and platform infrastructure.
- Design robust system architectures that connect user applications, business logic, large-scale datasets, and AI services.
- Build and optimize distributed systems that support complex workflows, data processing, orchestration, and computational workloads.
- Improve system reliability, scalability, and performance through thoughtful architecture and infrastructure design.
- Partner with research and machine learning teams to productionize advanced AI capabilities.
- Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, product, and research functions to deliver intuitive, high-impact software products.
- Drive technical excellence through code quality, architectural best practices, and mentorship.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of operating at a Staff or Principal level.
- Strong experience building production web services, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Expertise in software architecture, system design, and scalable backend development.
- Hands-on experience integrating machine learning, AI, or large-scale data processing systems into production environments.
- Proven ability to solve complex and ambiguous technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working in highly technical, research-driven, or data-intensive environments.
- Background in scientific computing, simulation platforms, analytics systems, healthcare technology, life sciences, or related industries.
- Experience building workflow orchestration, experimentation, or large-scale data platforms.
- Familiarity with developer platforms, internal tooling, or infrastructure that supports AI and ML product development.
