We are looking for a candidate for the following position:
Legal Counsel
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree or above in law obtained in a Common Law jurisdiction
- Qualified solicitor admitted in a Common Law jurisdiction with 3 - 8 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), specializing in data protection laws, ePrivacy laws and intellectual property laws
- In-house legal and compliance experience related to mobile apps and websites at a sizable tech company
- Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin)
- Ability to adopt a risk-balancing, flexible and creative approach towards compliance
- Diligent, result-oriented, self-motivated, strong sense of ownership, responsibility and independence
- Skilled in managing internal counterparts and external professional parties
Principal Job Description:
- Member of the International Legal Team headed by the General Counsel
- Based in Hong Kong with quarterly travel to Meitu’s headquarter in Xiamen
- Support and work with the International Business Team in handling legal and compliance issues relating to its mobile apps and websites, including preparing and reviewing Privacy Policies, Terms of Service and other related policies
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in data protection and ePrivacy laws globally
- Assist in developing internal policies and procedures to detect potential data breaches / copyright infringement and ensure compliance with privacy regulations, including cross-border data transfers and data breach responses
- Provide general legal support and assist in ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned from time to time
