Field Engineer
We are currently hiring for a Field Engineer in Norway for one of our leading Client, supporting a leading global technology client.
This is a 1-year Fixed-Term Contract (FTC) role involving frequent travel to project sites across Norway. The role is ideal for an experienced field engineer with hands-on experience in IoT, camera systems, sensor networks, edge devices, or similar hardware deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and maintain hardware across project sites throughout Norway.
- Travel to project sites, including on short notice, to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair deployed equipment.
- Ensure hardware deployed across project sites is functioning reliably and actively producing high-quality data.
- Diagnose issues involving cameras, edge devices, connectivity, and data feeds.
- Troubleshoot cellular, Wi-Fi, VPN, and other data connectivity issues.
- Perform hands-on installation, wiring, mounting, calibration, and maintenance of field equipment.
- Document deployment procedures, site conditions, equipment performance, and field issues.
- Prepare clear reports on site status, equipment performance, and troubleshooting activities.
- Work closely with the Electro-Mechanical Engineer and Product Team to identify field issues and provide feedback for product and design improvements.
- Perform remote monitoring and basic troubleshooting of deployed devices where required.
- Make independent technical decisions while working on-site and escalate issues appropriately.
- Support ongoing improvements to deployment processes and field reliability.
Required Skills / Primary Skills
- 5+ years of experience in Field Engineering or a similar hands-on engineering role.
- Experience with IoT, camera systems, sensor networks, edge devices, or similar hardware deployments.
- Strong working knowledge of networking and data connectivity, including cellular, Wi-Fi, and VPN.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting camera systems, edge devices, or data-capture hardware.
- Basic electrical and mechanical aptitude, including wiring, mounting hardware, installation, and physical troubleshooting.
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve hardware and connectivity issues in field environments.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently across Norway, including at short notice.
- Ability to work independently on-site with minimal supervision.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills.
Additional Skills
- Experience working with electro-mechanical systems or hardware-adjacent engineering.
- Experience with remote monitoring of deployed devices and data quality.
- Background in IoT or distributed hardware deployments.
- Comfortable working outdoors and in variable weather and site conditions.
- Experience collaborating with product, hardware, and engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound technical judgments in the field.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
