Mechanical Automation Engineer
Help Build the Manufacturing Platform for a New Medical Device Launch
We are preparing to launch a new product and is making significant investments in custom automation to support future production growth. This is a unique opportunity to join at the beginning and help design, develop, and launch the automated manufacturing systems that will drive high-volume production.
We are seeking a Mechanical Automation Engineer with experience leading custom automation equipment projects from concept through production launch. This role will partner closely with automation vendors and internal engineering teams to develop scalable manufacturing solutions for a complex, precision medical device.
What You'll Do
- Define equipment requirements and develop User Requirement Specifications (URS)
- Evaluate automation concepts and support vendor selection
- Lead technical discussions, design reviews, and project execution with automation suppliers
- Review mechanical equipment designs, layouts, and risk assessments
- Support FAT, SAT, equipment commissioning, and production launch activities
- Partner with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams to scale production
- Drive continuous improvement efforts focused on throughput, reliability, and manufacturing efficiency
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in automation, manufacturing, or capital equipment engineering
- Experience leading custom automation projects from concept through implementation
- Strong background in mechanical automation systems and equipment design reviews
- Experience writing URS documents and developing equipment specifications
- Proven success managing automation vendors and equipment suppliers
- Experience with FAT, SAT, and production launch activities
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
Preferred Experience
- Medical device, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, consumer electronics, or other high-volume manufacturing environments
- Machine vision, robotics, pneumatics, sensors, and industrial automation technologies
- FDA, GMP, and ISO 13485 regulated environments

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Irvine, CA.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
