The key purpose of this role is to safeguard the integrity, governance, and effectiveness of the procurement function by ensuring compliance with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and internal policy requirements, while proactively identifying and mitigating compliance, contractual, and third-party risks. The Compliance & Contract Manager plays a critical role in achieving this objective across all procurement activities. As the custodian of procurement governance, the role oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of procurement policies, controls, and compliance frameworks, ensuring adherence to Source-to-Pay standards, BBBEE requirements, audit obligations, and third-party risk management processes. The role also provides oversight of supplier contracts and commercial agreements to ensure contractual compliance and alignment with organizational objectives Working closely with Procurement, Legal, Finance, Internal Audit, and business stakeholders, the Compliance & Contracts Manager drives a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement, enabling sustainable business performance while protecting the organization from regulatory, operational, and commercial risk.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

- Ensure procurement activities comply with legal, regulatory, ethical, and internal policy requirements.

- Develop, maintain, and communicate procurement policies, standards, and governance frameworks.

- Monitor compliance controls, conduct reviews, and support internal and external audits.

- Review supplier contracts and commercial agreements to ensure legal and policy compliance.

- Identify and mitigate contractual risks in partnership with Legal and Procurement teams.

- Monitor adherence to contractual obligations across the procurement lifecycle.

- Oversee BBBEE compliance, regulatory reporting, and the implementation of legal, regulatory, and governance requirements impacting procurement.

- Lead third-party risk management activities, including supplier due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing risk monitoring.

- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships while driving communication, awareness, and adoption of procurement compliance, governance, and capability initiatives.

- Monitor, analyse, and report on compliance, audit, risk, and capability development performance, driving continuous improvement and corrective actions where required.

Key Attributes and Competencies:

- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional, Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager)

Minimum requirements:

- Essential: Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB, BCom/BA Law)

- Preferred: Masters Degree (LLM, MBA, MCom)

- 5 years' experience in legal, compliance, governance, or related functions

- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying legal and regulatory requirements within a corporate environment.

- Experience reviewing, negotiating, and managing commercial contracts and compliance frameworks.

- Experience managing stakeholder relationships across business, legal, procurement, and executive functions.
