Responsibilities

Data & AI Governance

- Lead the design, implementation, and improvement of integrated Data and AI governance frameworks, policies, standards, guardrails, and controls.

- Embed governance-by-design across data products, analytics, ML, generative AI, AI agents, and other AI-enabled solutions.

- Coordinate governance and risk assessments covering accountability, data quality, privacy, cyber security, model risk, transparency, oversight, third-party risk, compliance, and resilience.

- Partner with Business, IT, Cyber Security, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Privacy, and Architecture teams to set requirements and resolve governance issues.

- Maintain governance artefacts, registers, decisions, exceptions, risk and issue logs, and evidence for forums, assurance, audit, and regulators.

- Define and track governance metrics, maturity, control effectiveness, remediation, and adoption outcomes.

- Provide practical guardrails that enable responsible innovation and meet control requirements.

Data Management & Governance

- Drive data ownership, stewardship, classification, metadata, lineage, quality, master and reference data, retention, and issue management.

- Promote Data by Design and embed requirements, ownership, quality controls, and checkpoints into change and technology initiatives.

- Enhance metadata and MDM capabilities with IT and business stakeholders to improve adoption, automation, efficiency, and readiness.

- Establish scorecards and monitoring to assess data quality, readiness, maturity, and control effectiveness.

- Guide resolution of complex data quality, ownership, metadata, lineage, and governance issues through relevant forums.

Data & AI Strategy

- Support Data and AI strategy design and execution in line with business priorities, technology direction, risk appetite, and corporate goals.

- Translate strategy into roadmaps, operating models, governance priorities, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.

- Assess emerging Data and AI trends, technologies, regulations, and industry practices, and advise management.

- Support prioritization and investment decisions by assessing value, risk, readiness, dependencies, and governance implications.

- Prepare decision papers, dashboards, progress reports, and management materials.

Stakeholder Management & Data and AI Literacy

- Advise senior leaders, Data and AI owners, product teams, and control functions on governance, strategy, risk, and responsible adoption.

- Prepare and facilitate governance forums with clear agendas, quality materials, documented decisions, ownership, and follow-through.

- Build cross-functional relationships, influence in a matrix environment, and secure sponsorship for governance initiatives.

- Deliver communication, training, and awareness programs to strengthen Data and AI literacy, Responsible AI awareness, and governance culture.

- Help teams understand governance requirements and embed them into operations and change initiatives.

- Promote knowledge sharing, communities of practice, and consistent Data and AI governance standards.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Cyber Security, Data Science, Engineering, Information Management, Risk Management, or related discipline; Master's advantageous.

- Typically 5-8+ years in Data or AI Governance, Data Management, Technology Risk, Information Security, Strategy, or transformation roles.

- Experience developing or implementing governance frameworks, policies, standards, controls, operating models, or assurance processes for Data and/or AI.

- Strong understanding of Data and AI lifecycles, risks, governance, accountability, controls, and monitoring.

- IT or Cyber Security knowledge preferred, including cloud, architecture, secure design, IAM, data protection, third-party risk, controls, or technology risk.

- Experience with metadata, lineage, data quality, MDM, data catalogues, or governance tooling is advantageous.

- Familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK, NIST, ISO, COBIT, or similar governance, security, and risk practices is advantageous.

- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, influencing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- Financial services or regulated industry experience is advantageous.

- Leadership capability with a proactive, pragmatic, collaborative mindset; people-management or mentoring preferred.
