Join our Development Services team in Slough as a Scientist, where you will contribute to laboratory-based development projects supporting the manufacture of medicines. You will apply your scientific expertise to deliver high-quality experimental work, analyse data and collaborate with colleagues and customers to help projects progress safely, efficiently and on time.
This is a fully site-based role. Working together in person supports close, real-time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards.

What You Will Do
- Plan and execute laboratory experiments across Purification Development and Viral Clearance, including chromatography, ultrafiltration/diafiltration, column packing, virus reduction filtration, stability studies and high-throughput screening.
- Deliver assigned project activities safely, to the required quality standard and within agreed timelines, maintaining clear and accurate laboratory documentation and project records.
- Collect, organise and critically analyse experimental data, using evidence to identify issues, propose solutions and support sound project decisions.
- Contribute to the design of experiments and prepare technical documentation, including sampling plans, protocols, reports, standard operating procedures and study-related documentation.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Development Services, customers and external partners, including supporting customer interactions and coordinating activities with external vendors.
- Present experimental findings and prepare clear reports for internal stakeholders and customers, while developing your expertise as a subject matter expert in a relevant area.
- Support continuous improvement, new ways of working and knowledge sharing, including training and mentoring more junior members of the laboratory team.
What we are looking for:
- A BSc or equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific or technical discipline, with practical laboratory experience.
- Experience of laboratory-based experimental work and the ability to follow experimental plans while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.
- An interest in, or experience relevant to, purification development, viral clearance or related bioprocessing activities.
- Strong data organisation, analysis and problem-solving skills, with an ability to draw clear, evidence-based conclusions from experimental results.
- Good planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise multiple activities and deliver work to agreed timelines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present scientific data and communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and external partners.
- A collaborative and continuous-improvement mindset, with the willingness to learn, develop subject matter expertise and support the development of others.
