Role Description The Cladding Shop Drawing Specialist is responsible for preparing accurate and detailed shop drawings for cladding systems, ensuring alignment with architectural plans, structural requirements, and manufacturer specifications. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project documents, developing layout and elevation drawings, coordinating with project managers, engineers, and installers, and updating drawings based on feedback or site conditions. The role also involves identifying potential design or installation conflicts, proposing practical solutions, and organizing all drawing sets and revisions for clear project documentation. This is a full-time remote role, requiring effective communication, time management, and coordination with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in CAD or similar drafting software, with the ability to produce precise cladding shop drawings and details.
- Knowledge of building envelope systems, cladding materials, and basic structural concepts relevant to exterior facades.
- Experience interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and translating them into coordinated shop drawing packages.
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple drawing revisions and project deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration with project teams and clients.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety standards, and industry best practices related to cladding and glazing (or willingness to learn).
- Previous experience in cladding, glazing, or construction drafting is strongly preferred.
- Relevant technical diploma or degree in drafting, engineering technology, architecture, or a related field is an asset.
