Software Engineer, Sensing

As a Software Engineer, Sensing, you will develop software that enables autonomous systems to perceive, interpret, and act on information from cameras, sensors, and other data sources. Your work will directly support unmanned systems operating in complex real-world environments for both commercial and government customers.

The Technical Challenge
As a Software Engineer, Sensing, you will design and develop software that transforms sensor data into actionable information for autonomous platforms.
You will:
- Develop perception and sensing software for autonomous and unmanned systems
- Build algorithms that process data from cameras, inertial sensors, GPS, and other sensor modalities
- Develop and optimize computer vision, tracking, detection, and sensor fusion capabilities
- Create software that operates reliably in real-time and resource-constrained environments
- Integrate sensing capabilities with navigation, autonomy, and mission systems
- Support testing, validation, and deployment on flight-ready hardware
- Collaborate with robotics, autonomy, embedded, and systems engineering teams
- Troubleshoot complex system-level performance issues across software and hardware interfaces
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong proficiency in C++ and/or Python
- Experience developing software for perception, sensing, robotics, computer vision, or autonomous systems
- Experience working in Linux development environments
- Understanding of software architecture, data structures, algorithms, and debugging techniques
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ROS/ROS2
- Experience with computer vision frameworks such as OpenCV
- Experience with sensor fusion, tracking, localization, or state estimation
- Experience with UAVs, robotics, autonomous systems, or defense technologies
- Familiarity with machine learning or AI-based perception approaches
- Experience optimizing software for embedded or edge compute platforms
- Experience with cloud-based simulation or testing environments
