About Guava
Guava is the voice platform built for regulated industries — the calls that have to be right. Trained on 10B+ live agent minutes and in regulated production since 2013, Guava gives enterprises a single, compliant system for every second of a call. We serve healthcare systems, banks, insurance carriers, BPOs, and tech-native companies that need voice infrastructure they can stake their business on.
Reliability, latency, and audio quality aren't nice-to-haves here — they're the product. Every conversational flow, every API integration, and every real-time voice pipeline has to hold up under real usage before it reaches a customer, and that's where QA comes in.
The Role
Guava is looking for a QA Engineer to own quality across our voice agent platform. You will design and execute test strategies for conversational flows, real-time audio pipelines, and the APIs developers build on — catching issues before they reach production and helping the team ship fast without breaking things.
This is a hands-on role that blends manual exploratory testing — talking to and stress-testing voice agents — with building durable automated test coverage.
What You'll Do
- Design, write, and maintain test plans for voice agent conversational flows, including edge cases, interruptions, accents, and noisy audio conditions.
- Build and maintain automated test suites for backend APIs and integrations (regression, functional, and end-to-end).
- Benchmark AI systems for quality and performance.
- Test real-time voice pipelines end-to-end — ASR, TTS, latency, and call quality — across telephony integrations (SIP/PSTN) and supported platforms.
- Partner with engineering during feature development to define acceptance criteria and catch issues pre-release.
- Own release regression testing and sign-off before deploys.
- Track, triage, and clearly document bugs; work with engineers through resolution and verification.
- Monitor production quality signals (call success rate, latency, failure modes) and flag regressions.
- Help build out QA process and tooling as the team and platform scale.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in QA, SDET, or a related software testing role.
- Experience testing APIs and backend services, and writing test automation (e.g., Python, pytest, Postman/Newman, or similar).
- Strong exploratory testing instincts — comfortable digging in without a fully scripted test case.
- Clear, precise bug reports and comfort working directly with engineers to resolve them.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD and how automated testing fits into a release pipeline.
- Based in or willing to work from Guava's Downtown Los Angeles (Arts District) office.
Nice to Haves
- Experience testing voice, audio, or telephony systems (IVR, contact center, or conversational AI products).
- Experience owning backwards compatibility for a public SDK — designing and maintaining a version compatibility matrix, building contract tests that catch breaking changes in CI, and defining deprecation policy.
- Familiarity with load/performance testing tools.
Why Guava
- Own quality for a voice AI platform running in real, regulated production — not a research demo.
- Direct access to engineering leadership; no layers.
- Join a technical team building the reliability and audio quality the product depends on.
- Full health, dental, vision; employer 401(k) match; PFL/CFRA-compliant parental leave; flexible PTO.
Guava is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and are committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
