Responsibilities

Noblis is seeking a biomaterials scientist to support the development, fabrication, and evaluation of biomaterials within a benchtop experimental workflow.

The role requires experience in biomaterials fabrication, processing, and characterization of naturally abundant polymers such as collagen, keratin, silk, and related protein-based systems. The candidate should have a strong background in materials science, biomedical or chemical engineering, or a related field; demonstrate experience working independently with benchtop biomaterials workflows; and the ability to execute iterative formulation refinement and experimental work in both structured and exploratory settings.

Job Responsibilities

- Perform evaluation of biomaterial structure and mechanical properties.

- Prepare biomaterial formulations, fabricate test geometries using simple mold setups and additive manufacturing; and conduct exposure testing.

- Learn and implement policies, procedures, quality standards, and regulation; execute policies, programs, and services. Build positive working relationships within the department.

- Perform lab-based experiments.

- Stay abreast of the scientific literature on project-related topics.

Required Qualifications

- U.S. Citizenship - Active Security clearance is preferred.

- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in materials science, biology, biochemistry, chemistry, bioinformatics, or similar domain.

- Experience in a laboratory.

- Ability to execute experimental plans and document results with clarity and rigor.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills

- Travel up to 10% within US.

- Lift up to 30 lbs, walk, bend, drive.

Desired Qualifications

- Active Top-Secrect Security clearance is preferred.

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in materials science, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field; Doctorate preferred.

- Hands-on experience with biomaterials fabrication, including gels, films, composites, or molded geometries.

- Processing experience with naturally abundant polymers such as collagen, keratin, silk, or similar protein/polysaccharide systems.

- Benchtop experimental proficiency, including mixing, conditioning, molding, and testing.

- Characterization skills for evaluating biomaterial structure and mechanical properties.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

USD $59,200.00 - USD $92,575.00 /Yr.
