JVM Engineers – Java, Kotlin & Scala

Location: London (3 days per week in the office)

Salary: £75,000 – £120,000 + Pension + Private Healthcare

The Opportunity

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation to find talented JVM Engineers to join their growing engineering teams in London.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact, enterprise-scale systems within a technology-driven financial services environment. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering culture that values clean code, continuous improvement, and modern software development practices.

The Role

As a JVM Engineer, you’ll design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable applications using modern JVM technologies. You’ll work closely with other engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality software that supports critical business functions.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to technical decisions, improve engineering practices, and work on challenging problems across a large-scale technology estate.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain high-quality applications using Java, Kotlin, and/or Scala.

- Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.

- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) and engineering best practices.

- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical technology.

- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Contribute to the evolution of engineering standards and practices.

About You

We’re looking for JVM Engineers who are passionate about software engineering and enjoy solving complex technical challenges.

You’ll ideally have experience with:

- Strong commercial experience developing on the JVM.

- Java, Kotlin, and/or Scala.

- CI/CD tools and automated software delivery practices.

- Test-Driven Development (TDD) and automated testing.

- Object-oriented and/or functional programming principles.

- Building and supporting scalable, production-grade applications.

- Working collaboratively within agile engineering teams.

Experience within financial services, banking, or other regulated environments would be beneficial but is not essential.
