Your tasks and responsibilities:
• Compliance with all FMC, DOT, TSA, and Customs regulations (US and Foreign)
• Develop and maintain Ocean/Air carrier relationships.
• Maximize profits through negotiation and operation excellence on various freight modes
• Development and maintenance of strong long-term customer and vendor relationships
• AES administrator responsibilities
• Management and Execution of all daily operations of General Cargo Freight/Projects
• Management, training, mentoring, and motivation of assigned team members (new and
existing)
Identify and groom staff with potential for succession planning and communicate with HR
and management accordingly.
• Responsible for team member performance management, training and development,
performance appraisal and disciplinary action up to and including termination - as
applicable.
• Lead, direct and support daily operations as well as spearheading the development and
rollout of continuous improvement initiatives
• Direct, guide and support staff to delivery industry best practices
• Facilitate the provision of operational supports including import and export
documentation, synchronization of origin/destination zone transport, customs formalities,
and the overall scope of the door-to-door trade
• Ensure effective and timely delivery of customer commitments by the organization
• Create a challenging, rewarding, and open work environment that facilitates constructive
communication and motivates performance.
• Constantly monitor cost control efforts within the department to achieve maximum
profitability and timely issue of customer invoices
• Provide drive and motivation to the department, by leading from the front
• Ensure timely, attentive, and appropriate communication with internal and external
stakeholders and ensure effective resolution of service and operational issues
• Monthly financial close of operational files, responsible for cost and revenue accruals and
month end close processes
• Consistent excellence in Reliability, Professionalism and Teamwork
• Work constructively in a team-oriented environment to ensure customer & overseas offices
requirements are met
• Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of operational files
• Follow code of conduct and ensure that same is followed by the ocean freight team
• Assist with business plans, budgeting and completing company reporting as directed
• Liaise with and provide advice to management, branches, overseas network regarding
general cargo and project business as applicable
• Implement and validate Company KPI’s, SOPs and Directives
Market & Industry Knowledge / Business Acumen:
• Knowledge in all major freight forwarding disciplines, e.g., air, sea, surface transport,
industrial projects
• Understanding of company strategy and products
