Description
Client is looking for a Security Communications and Training Specialist to join its security awareness team. This role sits at the intersection of executive communications, training delivery, and human risk reduction — producing board-ready materials for senior leadership while designing and delivering training programs that reach employees across the organization.
This is a hands-on training and communications role, not a phishing-simulation or campaign-management position — those functions are owned separately on the team. The right candidate brings genuine experience standing in front of groups and designing curriculum, alongside the polish to prepare materials for VP and board audiences.
Contract runs through April 2027, with potential extension to July 2027. There is a genuine full-time conversion pathway targeted for March 2027, contingent on performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce executive-ready communications, decks, briefs, and packages for VP and board audiences, including proofreading and quality control before materials reach senior leadership
- Design and deliver formal training programs and roadshows on social engineering and human risk reduction, to audiences ranging from large employee groups to executive sessions
- Support the team's social engineering specialist on communications about how the broader program works
- Pull, analyse, and present metrics for board-level reporting, including identifying data quality issues before they reach leadership
- Administer a social engineering awareness platform (currently being evaluated) and produce training content through it
- Work cross-functionally across communications, OCM, project teams, and enterprise security, adapting quickly as direction from senior leadership shifts
Required Qualifications
- 4 years of work experience
- Executive-ready written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience preparing polished, error-free materials for senior leadership
- Direct, hands-on experience designing and delivering formal training programs — structured curriculum, roadshows, or live sessions — to large groups. Experience limited to phishing or social-engineering simulation and campaign management does not satisfy this requirement, regardless of program scale
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex or risk-related concepts into calm, actionable language, without fear-based messaging
- PowerPoint or equivalent presentation software proficiency, demonstrated through materials actually produced in past roles — not simply listed as a skill. Materials must be genuinely produced by the candidate, not generated wholesale by AI tools
- Genuine interest in cybersecurity and social engineering, with recent, current experience in security awareness or human-risk work preferred over experience that ended several years ago
- Comfort with data analysis and reporting sufficient for board-level metrics presentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in security communications, cybersecurity awareness, or compliance and risk communications
- Familiarity with social engineering awareness platforms (Doppel, Mirage, KnowBe4, Proofpoint)
- Comfortable using AI tools for content creation on the job, while also able to produce material independently without relying on AI
- Experience in energy, utilities, or other regulated industries
- SQL or advanced data analysis skills
- Candidates from technical security engineering or architecture backgrounds are welcome to apply, provided training delivery and executive communication are also independently demonstrated — this is not a purely technical role
