About Clay & Cupcakes

Clay & Cupcakes is a welcoming pottery painting studio where guests of all ages come to create, connect, and celebrate. From everyday visits to birthday parties and group events, we want every guest to feel cared for and leave looking forward to their next visit.

Behind that experience is a team that keeps the studio organized, supports our guests, and carefully prepares their pottery for firing and pickup.

About the Role

We are looking for an engaged, dependable Studio Manager who enjoys leading people and taking responsibility for daily operations.

Reporting directly to the owner, you will lead our Team Leads and studio staff, coordinate daily priorities, and ensure work is completed accurately and on time. You will work alongside the team, guide them through busy periods, and maintain consistent standards in guest service, studio presentation, and pottery production.

This position suits someone who notices what needs attention, makes thoughtful decisions, and follows through. You should be comfortable coaching staff, addressing concerns professionally, and keeping the owner informed.

What You Will Do

• Lead daily studio operations, including opening, closing, cleanliness, organization, and readiness for guests.

• Prepare staff schedules, coordinate coverage, and review employee hours for payroll.

• Set clear priorities, delegate responsibilities, and follow up to ensure tasks are completed to our standards.

• Train and coach team members, support Team Leads, and address performance concerns with clear, respectful feedback.

• Create a welcoming guest experience and resolve customer concerns with professionalism and good judgment.

• Coordinate reservations, birthday parties, group bookings, and special events.

• Oversee the pottery workflow from preparation and glazing through kiln loading, firing, quality checks, and customer pickup, following established procedures and safety standards.

• Monitor pottery, paint, glaze, and supply levels, coordinating replenishment with the owner.

• Maintain accurate cash records, complete daily cash checks, and oversee point of sale procedures.

• Communicate staffing needs, production issues, customer concerns, and operational priorities to the owner, following through on agreed actions.

What You Bring

• Previous supervisory or management experience, including staff scheduling, delegation, training, and accountability.

• A warm, professional approach to customer service and confidence assisting children, adults, families, and groups.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize calmly when the studio is busy.

• Reliability, initiative, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through.

• Comfort using digital scheduling, booking, communication, and point of sale systems. Experience with Square is an asset.

• Willingness to learn the practical side of pottery studio operations and work alongside the team.

Experience in retail, hospitality, recreation, or another guest-focused environment is an asset. Previous pottery or kiln experience is welcome but is not required. Training in our studio processes will be provided.
