The Phoenix Police department's Public Records & Services Bureau is seeking to to hire three Police Records Clerks.This position requires attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, and effective time management skill and the ability to work cooperatively with others in a team setting.
The essential duties of this role include and are not limited to:
- Answer incoming phone calls.
- Assist with public records request and status.
- Manage virtual appointments.
- Process, review, and fulfill public records requests.
- Handle online and portal submissions.
- Review and release available reports.
- Process payments and refunds.
- Follow up on pending requests.
- Manage appointment setting and booking.
- Assist walk in customers.
- Process in person public records requests.
- Accept payments and perform cash handling tasks.
- Provide available reports and records.
- Assist customers with completing request forms.
- Handle general front counter customer service.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
- Possess strong customer service skills when handling potentially difficult circumstances.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Demonstrate proper English usage, grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Demonstrate good judgment and responsible behavior.
SALARY
Pay Range: $23.06 to $34.08 per hour.
Hiring Range: $23.06 to $26.70 per hour.
Pay Range Explanation
- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

Minimum Qualifications
- One year of clerical experience.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience:
- Providing customer service in fast-paced environment over the phone and in person.
- Working with processing, reviewing, and fulfilling records requests.
- Utilizing electronic cashiering systems.
- Working in law enforcement, the criminal justice field, or a similar environment.
- In general computer use such as email, internet for research purposes, and data entry.
