Job Summary: The College Success Navigator supports students in achieving their academic, personal, and professional goals. The College Success Navigator provides individualized coaching and proactive outreach to promote academic achievement, persistence, retention, career readiness, and degree completion. The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with students and help them develop the skills, strategies, and confidence needed to succeed in college. The position will also help students connect their liberal arts education and co-curricular experiences to career interests, graduate study, and future professional goals.
This position is funded by U.S. Department of Education Title III grant and is contingent on continued grant funding.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide individualized academic success coaching related to goal setting, time management, study strategies, organization, course planning, and self-advocacy.
- Proactively identify and support students who may be experiencing academic or other barriers to persistence and retention.
- Participate in early-alert, intervention, and student-retention initiatives.
- Develop student success plans and connect students with appropriate academic, personal, financial, and campus resources.
- Support students through key transitions, including the first year, academic difficulty, changes in major, and other circumstances affecting persistence.
- Foster student engagement, belonging, help-seeking, and connection to the institution.
- Integrate career readiness into academic coaching, helping students connect their coursework, liberal arts skills, and co-curricular experiences to future career and graduate-school goals.
- Help students identify and articulate transferable skills such as critical thinking, communication, writing, research, problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability.
- Encourage participation in internships, research, leadership, service, networking, and other career-building experiences.
- Connect students with Career Services and other resources related to internships, professional development, employment, and graduate school.
- Collaborate with faculty, academic advisors, Career Services, and student affairs professionals to provide coordinated student support.
- Maintain appropriate student records and contribute to assessment efforts related to student success, persistence, retention, and career readiness.
- Participate in orientation, workshops, student programs, and occasional evening or weekend activities as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, education, academic advising, career development, or related field.
- Experience (3+ years) working with college students in academic advising, student success, coaching, student affairs, career development, education, or a related field.
- Experience with academic and career coaching, retention initiatives, early alert systems, and career readiness.
- Demonstrated experience working with students from specialized or targeted populations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
- Commitment to student success, persistence, retention, and career readiness.
- Ability to help students connect academic experiences with career and professional goals.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Compensation: $26.44 per hour ($55,000 annually)
