We are working with a New York fintech building payments infrastructure for businesses moving money internationally. Their accounting currently runs through an external firm. They're bringing it in-house - and this is the first accountant they'll have hired.
The successful candidate will work directly with our client's finance lead, who came out of Big 4 audit early in their own career and knows exactly what this transition looks like. The scope is real from day one, and very little of it is already built.
The role
- Running month-end close alongside the finance lead, then taking it over
- Building repeatable reporting processes where none exist today
- Bookkeeping and expense classification, end to end
- Migrating work currently held by our client's external accountants
- Acting as a right hand to the finance lead on analysis and ad-hoc projects
What our client is looking for
- 0–5 years' accounting experience - strong recent graduates and early-career auditors both welcome
- Big 4 or national firm background preferred; financial services clients ideal
- A holistic grasp of accounting, not just the tasks — you understand why the entries land where they do
- Fluent with AI tools, or genuinely keen to be. They use them heavily
- Intellectually curious, and comfortable working without a playbook
- CPA preferred. Don't have it? Our client will sponsor it, and can provide your signing CPA
