Job Summary
Accelyst is seeking an experienced Suite Engineer (Conversion) to support data platform modernization and migration initiatives involving SAP HANA and Databricks. The role will focus on converting HANA artifacts into Databricks-native equivalents while ensuring functional accuracy, performance, and scalability.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with SAP HANA SQLScript and data modeling, Spark SQL, PySpark, and Databricks, along with hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL conversion, and distributed data processing.
Job Roles and Responsibilities
- Convert SAP HANA artifacts into Databricks-native data engineering solutions.
- Translate SAP HANA calculation views into appropriate Databricks-based implementations.
- Convert SQLScript logic into Spark SQL and PySpark.
- Translate and refactor stored procedures for execution within Databricks environments.
- Develop Delta Lake tables and associated data processing workflows.
- Refactor existing HANA logic to support distributed processing and scalable execution.
- Develop PySpark notebooks to implement converted data transformation logic.
- Validate converted artifacts against source HANA implementations to ensure functional accuracy.
- Participate in testing and validation cycles for converted data solutions.
- Analyze and remediate defects identified during validation and testing.
- Troubleshoot data transformation, logic, performance, and integration issues.
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders throughout the conversion process.
- Ensure converted solutions follow Databricks-native development and data engineering practices.
- Support documentation of conversion logic, technical decisions, and validation results.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, data migration, or data platform conversion.
- Hands-on experience with SAP HANA SQLScript and HANA data modeling.
- Strong proficiency in Spark SQL and PySpark.
- Experience working with Databricks and Delta Lake.
- Experience converting SAP HANA artifacts into modern data platform equivalents.
- Strong understanding of SQL-based data transformations and ETL processes.
- Experience developing and maintaining data transformation workflows.
- Ability to refactor legacy data processing logic for distributed execution.
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving defects during data validation and migration cycles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Required Certifications
- Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate certification.
- SAP HANA SQLScript and modeling certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated hands-on SAP HANA conversion and modernization experience.
- Experience with large-scale data migration or ETL modernization projects.
- Experience working with Delta Lake and Databricks notebooks.
