Provost Contrives is looking for an experienced Mechanical Lead to join our Medical Device Design Group in Kharadi, Pune.
This role combines hands-on mechanical design expertise with technical leadership, team development, and project execution.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical engineers.
- Drive concept development, feasibility evaluation, and robust design decisions.
- Review and approve 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Lead design of injection-molded, sheet-metal, and precision-machined components.
- Ensure strong standards for GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, DFM/DFA.
- Validate designs through calculations, analysis, and V&V testing.
- Guide selection and qualification of COTS components.
- Coordinate with suppliers, toolmakers, and manufacturing teams.
- Maintain mechanical sections of the DHF, including V&V protocols and reports.
- Support FMEA, hazard analysis, and risk management activities.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and development of engineers.
- Represent Mechanical Engineering in cross-functional technical reviews.
🎓 Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 6–8 years of experience in mechanical design.
- Strong experience with plastic, metal, and precision-machined parts.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and engineering documentation.
- Medical device or regulated-industry experience is an advantage.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
