The Application Development Engineer role is to develop embedded engine control software for the RBPT F1 Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) working as part of the ICE Controls group within the broader RBPT PU Controls group. The software must exploit hardware performance potential, ensure operational and mechanical robustness and adhere to FIA regulations. Requirements come from trackside, calibration and simulation groups as well as from within the ICE Controls team.
Key Accountabilities:
• Real-time application development of the ICE control application, typically in MATLAB/Simulink, targeting the F1 Standard ECU
• Turn problems and shortcomings into positive plans of action for software development
• Produce clear, readable and efficient code
• Code validation using SIL, HIL, DIL or dyno as required
• Data analysis
• Software tool development
• Code generation environment development as part of wider Dev Ops
• Plant model development for test and validation
