This role is a unique opportunity to work on research projects in the areas of climate change and insurance. Working under the supervision of the Director of Climate Change & Environment, you will be a key contributor to research projects, events, and other activities.

You should expect a dynamic environment and be able to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability and autonomy in your daily work.

Responsibilities

- Perform desk research on relevant topics, develop cohesive reference list with synthesis and contribute to the drafting of Climate Change and Environment research projects/initiatives:

- Enabling long-term climate ready communities (green and climate resilient built environment (spanning residential commercial and industrial buildings and critical infrastructure systems and operations)

- Initiative on resiliency of energy systems and infrastructure, in collaboration with the International Energy Agency.

- Support the implementation of, participate in and summarise discussions of multi-stakeholder roundtables, workshops and interviews and analyse the outcomes

- Conduct empirical analyses based on publicly available datasets

- Design graphs and prepare presentations

- Support with the outreach of CCE Research reports involving supporting developments of webinars, roundtables and other outreach tools

- Support the director in coordinating the activities of the Climate Change and Environment Working Group, project advisory committees and other external stakeholders’ platforms, and maintenance of the programme databases

- Support the planning of 2027 Climate Change and Environment Conference, webinars and other events

- Other activities as relevant

Required Skills And Experience

- Close to completing a university degree or a recent graduate, preferably at postgraduate level, in civil or environmental engineering, energy or infrastructure systems, urban planning/built environment, and linkage to public policy, economics, finance or risk management, with a demonstrated interest in climate resilience and decarbonisation.

- Knowledge of – or strong interest in – global developments related to climate-resilient and low-carbon buildings, communities and infrastructure systems. Knowledge of physical climate risk, energy-system resilience, or built-environment value chains is an advantage.

- Ability to take a systems perspective, connecting technical, policy, economic, financial and risk-management considerations.

- Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail while maintaining sight of the broader strategic context.

- Strong interest in learning about the role of insurance and reinsurance in climate resilience, infrastructure and the energy transition.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a proactive and autonomous working style.

Compensation And Terms

- CHF 4,000 per month

- Valid Swiss work permit required
