🔷 About StrategyBridge
Who we are
We're setting new standards in corporate finance. With a focused team of 30 — one in four of us a former founder — we combine deep expertise in finance, data science and AI to build THE platform for deal & advisory teams, strategy departments, auditors and banks. We're one of the fastest-growing startups in the DACH-region and now scaling internationally. Our ambition is clear: to set the global standard.
Our Culture
- Ownership. You own your topics end to end, from idea to shipped.
- Strong opinions, loosely held. We argue hard about the right solution, then commit together.
- Simple beats clever. The simplest thing that solves the problem wins. We'd rather ship clear code than impressive code.
- Leave it better than you found it. Speed is a priority, but we don't trade it for technical debt that kills future velocity. We build simple, modular systems that are easy for the next person (or future you) to understand.
- Mistakes are a gift. We make mistakes and learn from them. The one thing we avoid is making the same one twice.
- Serious about the work, not about ourselves. We take our goals seriously, ourselves less so.
🔷 The role: Backend Engineer
Small team, high bar. You'll build the backend behind analysis work that currently takes a corporate finance team days — data pipelines, APIs and the agentic systems on top of them. You'll take features from idea to production with the motivation and ownership of a founder. We're looking for someone with at least 2 years of professional experience. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and ship end-to-end features used by thousands of financial professionals
- Build backend services in Python and design clean, efficient APIs and data flows
- Own your services in production — deployment, monitoring, and knowing first when something breaks
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party platforms and internal services
- Work across Elasticsearch, Qdrant and PostgreSQL, picking the right store for each problem
- Develop agentic workflows and AI-powered pipelines
- Contribute to critical software design and architecture decisions around scalability and reliability
- Decide when an LLM is the right tool and when deterministic code is the better answer
- Collaborate directly with clients and internal teams to understand needs and turn them into features
🔷 Qualifications - to be successful in this role, you will need:
Must-haves
- We expect the motivation and ownership of a founder. You own problems end-to-end and care more about the user outcome than your ticket description
- 2+ years of professional experience with proven track-record designing & developing scalable and reliable software
- Proficiency in Python and strong API design skills (REST, and ideally familiarity with protocol-level tooling)
- You ship and operate your own services — Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and the observability to debug production
- You've built with LLMs in production — and know the difference between a demo and something users can actually rely on
- You use AI/LLM tools to move faster, but you have the technical depth to audit their output and maintain high code quality. No "AI slop"
- Familiarity with agentic orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or similar)
- Experience handling complex, data-heavy backends. You know how to keep queries and pipelines fast when the data volume grows
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and with search or vector stores (Elasticsearch, Qdrant or similar)
- Strong communication and structured problem-solving skills
- Degree in CS, Math, Physics, or equivalent practical experience
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in fintech or other data-intensive, regulated domains
- Comfortable with TypeScript and a solid understanding of frontend concepts (React/Next.js)
- Founding-experience - entrepreneurial drive, resourcefulness, and comfort with ambiguity
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Apache Spark) & data orchestration tools (e.g. Dagster)
🔷 What we offer
- Responsibility from day one: flat hierarchies, fast decisions, and the room to actually shape the product.
- Upside: competitive compensation - base + bonus + VSOP - you share in the upside, not just the workload.
- Learning curve: one of the steepest you’ll find in Germany. Not an empty claim — ask the team.
- People: Build with experts from Big Tech, Silicon Valley, Investment Banking, and Hedge Funds.
- Setup: Munich, hybrid. Modern office, EGYM Wellpass, team events, tax-free benefits.
- Relocation: company apartment in Munich available on request.
